I am a PhD candidate in Film and Media Studies at Georgia State University, where I also teach undergraduate courses in film history, aesthetics, and analysis. My research focuses on film theory, visual storytelling, and the relationship between image and meaning. I have designed and taught both online and hybrid courses, helping students develop critical thinking and close analysis skills. I enjoy guiding learners through the language of cinema, exploring how aesthetic elements like camera work and editing work together to tell stories and shape emotion.

I am a native Persian (Farsi) speaker and hold a Master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Shiraz and a Bachelor’s in German Translation from the University of Isfahan, both in my home country, Iran.

I have several years of teaching experience at the college level, designing and leading fully online as well as hybrid film courses. My teaching focuses on helping students understand how films communicate through image, sound, and narrative form. I use a discussion-based and example-driven approach, encouraging students to think critically and connect theory to visual analysis.

I have also tutored students one-on-one in academic writing and media analysis, tailoring lessons to each student’s background and learning style. My students range from high school learners preparing for college to university students developing essays and film projects.

I focus on helping students develop practical communication skills while also introducing them to Persian culture, expressions, and everyday language use. My lessons are clear, supportive, and tailored to each learner’s goals and level.

Personal Statements

Personal Statements

As an international PhD student in Film and Media, I’ve written numerous Statements of Purpose and personal statements throughout my own academic journey and helped many others refine theirs for graduate and undergraduate applications. Having gone through the admission process multiple times myself, I understand what makes a statement stand out both intellectually and personally. My approach focuses on helping students express their authentic voice while meeting academic and professional expectations with clarity and confidence.
