Bio

After a long pause since July 2021 to finish my doctorate, I'm back tutoring for Wyzant! I graduated this August with a PhD in English–creative writing at the University of Georgia, where I was a Presidential Fellow for exceptionally qualified graduate students. For the past ten years, I've been publishing essays, reviews, interviews, poems, and translations under the pen name Genevieve Arlie.

After a long pause since July 2021 to finish my doctorate, I'm back tutoring for Wyzant! I graduated this August with a PhD in English–creative writing at the University of Georgia, where I was a Presidential Fellow for exceptionally qualified graduate students. For the past ten years, I've been publishing essays, reviews, interviews, poems, and translations under the pen name Genevieve Arlie.

Editing & proofreading: I work with all genres of academic writing in all subjects, including dissertations, master's and honors theses, and college papers. I have a year of experience as a contract proofreader with ProofreadingPal in Iowa City, where I edited in MLA, Chicago, and APA styles for clarity and concision while preserving the writer's unique voice. I also tutored with Wyzant and the UGA Willis Center for Writing for one year each.

Application essays: As a writing tutor, I help undergrad, graduate, professional, and fellowship applicants hone their rough drafts into polished final products that leave an impression through eloquence and experiential truth. My tutees have been accepted at Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, NYU, UCLA, Berkeley, U of Michigan, University College London, Temple law, the medical colleges of Georgia and Wisconsin, and the UNC Chapel Hill pharmacy program, among other schools.

English language & literature: If you need help writing a research paper in any subject, I have expertise to share. I've taught composition and creative writing in the UGA English department, graded accounting memos for the UGA Terry College of Business, and assisted with the teaching of Russian literature in translation at Stanford and Columbia.

Test prep: I took the GRE three times over nine years to apply for three graduate degrees. In 2015 I got a 167 verbal, the 98th percentile. Let's get you a score like that!
