University of Georgia (Ecology, Marine Biol)
I'm an undergraduate pursuing a B.S in Ecology and Marine Biology at UGA. I have had a strong passion for science and math throughout my life and would love to share this passion with other students of all ages! I used to get frustrated with some teaching methods because I did not understand the reasoning behind them. Once I reasoned through the equations with the help of teachers or peers, I fell in love with working problems and finding solutions. I think that many difficulties people have with math are because they have not been shown the logic behind it, but once they understand it they will have amazing success. Furthermore, I feel very passionately about science and feel that everyone should have an interest in scientific knowledge.
I have 2 years of experience tutoring 2nd-5th grade students in math, grammar, science, and geography. Many of these students were children who spoke another language at home, so I learned to overcome some language barriers. I took Spanish for 8 years, which helped a lot with communication. I love working with kids because they're still new to the world and you can make almost anything seem fun and exciting. I understand the stress that comes with high school classes and things do not seem as fun, but I hope I could help ease the stress of classes and grades by helping in my better subjects: math and science. I graduated high school with the International Baccalaureate diploma and I hope to encourage others to pursue academic achievements. My method is to explain things thoroughly, rather than make someone simply memorize equations. I'm a visual learner myself, so I think I might be a good fit for someone that could benefit from visual and hands on conceptual understanding.
Math is logical and there's always an answer to be found. I've loved math since I was a little girl and have helped students and peers with subjects from elementary math to calculus. Math concepts are often complicated to understand, especially as you move into trigonometry and calculus. With my skills, I want everyone to see that math can be fun and not just a useless subject!
I took Spanish classes from middle school through the first two years of college. I am conversationally proficient and can help with grammar and vocabulary. I love the Spanish language and have had the opportunity to travel to Mexico twice and practice my language skills. I can also help native Spanish speakers in other subjects at an elementary level.
I volunteered as an after school tutor for students in grades 2-5. I loved working with them and inspiring academic confidence. The kids were motivated to finish their homework and succeed in school. By the end of each year, I always felt so proud of my students and what they had achieved.
If your student is struggling with school please feel free to contact me! Or if you're a college student looking for peer help in Spanish or pre-calc, I would be glad to help! I promise to help with understanding and application of concepts.
If it sounds like you or your student could benefit from my tutoring, please don't hesitate about contacting! I will be available during the school year and would be so happy to help someone stay on track! Thank you! I'm an undergraduate pursuing a B.S in Ecology and Marine Biology at UGA. Every question I had, she had an answer for!! She taught me a lot of tricks to help me remember things for my class. 10/10 recommend !!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Algebra was one of my favorite subjects in high school because I was fortunate enough to have great teachers and I hope I can do the same for you! Algebra starts out hard, but can be really satisfying once you're able to solve all the equations. I hope I can help!
I am an ecology major at the university of georgia and will graduate with an ecology degree and a water resources certificate. The environment is really important to me and I love learning about how everything in the world builds on each other and nothing happens without affecting something else. Ecology is a wonderful science!
