Hello! My name is Alicia, and I am a recent graduate from The University of Georgia. I have a BSEd in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Human Development and Family Science and a MEd in Early Childhood Education. I am certified to teach grades Pre-K through 5th Grade. I am currently employed as a Pre-K Teacher at an elementary school in the Athens area.

Prior to becoming a Pre-K Teacher, I served as an Academic Interventionist. I supported homeroom teachers with literacy and math instruction and curricula, including the K-5 Fountas and Pinnell Reading Curriculum and the K-2 Eureka Math Curriculum. I also led intensive, small-group reading instruction to assist students needing more individualized and targeted support.

I am knowledgeable of concepts and skills in several branches of math, including Pre-Algebra, General Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus. I have conducted laboratorial research in Chemistry and Physics at Clark Atlanta University during two summer-long internships.

I studied French intensively 3.5 years in high school and college, scored a 4 out of 5 on the College Board's AP French Exam, and received the Outstanding Senior in French award during my senior year of high school - the only student at my school to receive the award. I lived with an Italian host family for a month during a study abroad trip and acquired a beginning knowledge of the language's spoken and written forms.

I have a STRONG background in English and have excelled in every English course that I have taken thus far. I scored a 32 out of 36 on the English portion my ACT exam and a 710 out of 800 on the Writing portion of my SAT exam. I am skilled in both basic academic writing, graduate level writing and professional writing (e.g. resumes and cover letters).

As for my skills in editing, proofreading, and graphic design, I used the Adobe InDesign software to curate submissions and design my high school's ENTIRE literary magazine from start to finish. The magazine received a rating of

In high school, I served as the literary magazine editor, and I used Adobe InDesign to create the entire magazine. Our magazine was awarded a rating of "Excellent" by the National Association for Teachers of English for design and content. In addition, I also served as one of several Layout Designers for The University of Georgia's infUSion magazine. As a Layout Designer, I used Adobe InDesign exclusively to help compile student submissions into a creative, modern and coherent magazine that would be distributed across campus.

I am an Early Childhood Education major with a minor in Human Development and Family Science. During my Freshman year, I gratefully accepted the opportunity to shadow a 1st grade teacher at a local elementary school, where I received some hands-on experience with assisting students with their classwork and with other daily activities whenever the teacher needed assistance. I have experience working one-on-one with elementary students in the areas of reading, writing, and math through several volunteer opportunities including Saturday enrichment at a local elementary school.
