I tutored Calculus at UF from 1982 to 1985. I taught Soil and Water Conservation Eng. Lab at UF from 1994 to 1995. I taught Algebra at ECCC, Decatur, MS from 1999 to 2000. I taught Statics, Fluid Mechanics, Hydrology, Soil Mechanics and Electric Circuits Lab at Ark. State Univ. from 2003 to 2004.

I earned a B.S. in Electrical Eng., at UF 1985. I earned a M.E. in Agricultral Eng., at UF 1994. I earned Minors in Agronomy and Dairy Science. I have been a doctoral candidate in Agricultural & Biological Eng., at UF 1999.

I have considerable experience tutoring and teaching math and engineering subjects.

I can provide personalized and casual tutoring.

When tutoring or teaching complex subjects such as mathematics and engineering problems, i strongly prefer to use a step-by-step, sequential methodology to properly instruct students in how to arrive at the solutions to problems with a correct theoretical understanding of the topic at hand.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have much experience tutoring and teaching Algebra at the college level.

Algebra 2

I have much experience tutoring and teaching Algebra at the college level. In addition, much of the tutoring for Calculus involves going over Algebra techniques.

Calculus

I tutored Calculus independently for one year as an Electrical Engineering student at the University of Florida. Then I tutored students in Business Calculus for the University of Florida, Mathematics Department for two years until graduation. The lead instructor in charge of the program, Dr. Karen Dougan, referred to me as her Right Hand when it came to resolving grading discrepancies on Business Calculus tests graded by more than a dozen Math and Engineering students hired by the Math Department to tutor students and grade exams. Calculus was among my very favorite subjects in high school and college.

Civil Engineering

My specialty in Agricultural Engineering was Soil and Water Conservation Engineering at the University of Florida, which led me to take courses in Hydrodynamics, Hydraulics, Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering in the UF Civil Engineering Department.
I passed the Civil Engineering Water Resources P.E. Exam in Little Rock, Arkansas during the Fall of 2003, former Ark P.E. #12052.
I taught Fluid Mechanics, Soil Mechanics, Hydrology and Engineering Statics at the Arkansas State University, College of Engineering during 2003 and 2004.
I worked as a Hydrlogic Engineer for the Northwest Florida Water Management District, Surface Water Bureau during 1997.
I worked as a Hydrologic Engineer (GS-7 thru GS-11) for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service from 9/2000 to 12/2002 in Lonoke, Ark and Little Rock, Ark.
I worked as a GS-12 Hydraulic Engineer for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Athens, GA from 5/2005 to 9/2011.
I have NO Civil Engineering coursework or experience in Structures, Concrete and Steel; only construction experience decades ago.

Electrical Engineering

I first studied Vocational Electronics at Galesburg Sr. High School in the late 1970's.
I earned a B.S. Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida in August, 1985, with a 2.9 GPA, including several graduate courses.
I currently mess around with music electronics and audio circuits.

Fortran

I got an "A" in the FORTRAN Computer Course at the University of Florida during the Fall of 1982.
I wrote and/or used FORTRAN Computer Programs for Engineering Laboratory Courses in Circuits II, Soil and Water Conservation Engineering and other engineering courses.
I also completed a PL-1 Computer Course at Rice University during the Summer Semester of 1981.

Mechanical Engineering

I taught Engineering Statics Mechanics at the Arkansas State University, College of Engineering from the Fall of 2003 till the Fall of 2004.
I completed courses in Statics Mechanics (Univ. of Fla.) and Physics Mechanics (Rice University).
I have considerable professional engineering experience with surface water management structures and less experience with structures used for agricultural waste management.

Precalculus

I have considerable experience tutoring Calculus, first doing it independently as an undergraduate engineering student in 1982 and then tutoring Business Calculus Students for the University of Florida, Math Dept. from 1983 thru 1985.
