Hello! I'm Noah, a recent graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, where I majored in Comparative Literature. My studies of literature and language, my work experience, and my lifelong love of reading and writing make me an effective, qualified, English and test-prep tutor.

I have worked as a teacher and tutor in professional, volunteer, and informal capacities. I worked for two years at a private language academy in Raleigh, North Carolina, teaching English lit, language, and SAT prep. I also worked with refugee families in the Chapel Hill area for two years, teaching ESL, civics, and vocabulary. Furthermore, I have worked as a journalist in North Carolina and Georgia, which has further refined my understanding of quality writing and my grasp of the English language.

My studies and work in these areas not only qualify me to teach essential language arts skills, but have also equipped me with effective interpersonal communication skills. Such communication skills, and an ability to interact effectively with kids, have been supplemented by previous involvement with service organizations, like the Boy Scouts of America, and at UNC, where I assisted many of my peers with essay writing and reading comprehension.

If you need help reading and writing on a higher level, or preparing for the SAT, SSAT, or GRE, then I am the right tutor for you. I'm passionate about these areas, but I'm also interested in teaching others to feel that same passion and to reach their goals in such subjects. As a one-on-one tutor, I am able to demonstrate complicated or nuanced concepts which may be difficult to grasp using online resources or in a large-class setting. Learning can be tough, and I sympathize with the frustration that can accompany it. I make sure to remain patient, understanding, and positive with all.
