The passion I have for mathematics is a recent development. It was not until I was required to take Calculus in college that I began to fall in love with the subject. I was so fascinated by the workings of calculus, I was often in my professor's office hours just to work new problems or to ask absurdly inquisitive questions.
My tutoring experience mostly encompasses meeting with other students in my classes to help them further comprehend the material by working through problems. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring, and I aspire to transform studying math from a dull experience into an entertaining one. I am a mathematics major, with a keen interest in mathematical climate models. I've conducted research into predicting tropical cyclones at Pennsylvania State University as well as research in UGA's geography department concerning paleoclimatology.
I am able to tutor all disciplines of mathematics through calculus. In fact, my favorite course to tutor is Calculus II, as I actually enjoy sequences and series. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
