About Raymond

I can relay concepts in down to earth language but you will have to do a lot of practice problems to reinforce the concepts. I strongly believe in doing a lot of practice problems! I also have strategies to help taking math tests that can help increase your learning and grade. Math is a accumulation of knowledge and each successive step builds on the next. If you are struggling with the basics, I can help you get a strong foundation to achieve your goals.

I am very flexible on time, and offer many openings. I would even be willing to work on weekends. I am flexible on cancellations, and can reschedule at whatever is convenient to you. I am willing to work in whatever atmosphere is most conducive to the student's learning.

I am an Engineering PhD student at Mizzou with strong math skills that can help you pass or increase your grade in any science related class. I can even help with Mathematica. I have over 3 years experience programming in Mathematica. I am an American (from Chicago) that speaks fluent English. I have my BS in mechanical engineering and a MS in nuclear engineering. I will achieve my PhD in nuclear engineering in May of 2015.

Tutoring has always been fun to me, and look forward to helping you achieve future success.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Differential Equations

I took differential equations in my undergrad and received an A. As a graduate student, I took partial differential equations and received a B. I have written programs in Mathematica for the heat transfer equation with different boundary conditions.

Mathematica

I have over three years of experience working with Mathematica in the classroom as well as with my PhD research.
