LaGrange College (English and Theatre)
University of Georgia (Enrolled)
Greetings! I am currently a graduate student at UGA studying secondary English education. I received undergraduate degrees in both English and Theater performance. I have been tutoring in various capacities for the past eight years. My previous experience includes tutoring at-risk ESL elementary schoolers, teaching at a science camp, and teaching at various theater camps.
I have a genuinely infectious enthusiasm for writing and literature, and I adore sharing this with my students. My strengths are in teaching editing skills, helping students find their voice as writers, and fostering reading comprehension. As far as organization goes, I was fairly disorganized as a child until a tutor took the time to show me how to make sense out of the piles of paper spilling out of my binder. I look forward to hearing from you! Greetings! I am currently a graduate student at UGA studying secondary English education. I received undergraduate degrees in both English and Theater performance. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received an undergraduate major in theater performance and have taught at theater performance camps for several summers. I have been asked to provide the voiceover for a recital for the LaGrange College production of Sweeny Todd. In addition to this, I was frequently chosen to give tours to large groups of visiting parents and students. I was also asked to speak at a lunch for the school's donors. I am very comfortable and confident in speaking for large audiences as I performed in many plays and have presented many speeches, but I also have directed several shows and posess skills in encouraging and teaching younger presenters to organize their speeches and master bad habits.
I have been studying theater since the age of five. In addition to going to grad school for English education, I am also going to take the GACE in Theater, as it is my dream job to teach that subject, in addition to English.
I have directed, acted, stage managed, and worked tech all through my college career. Also, I have worked in theater camps for 6 summers training students in performance and technical subjects. In February, I am actually co-directing a high school production of Romeo&Juliet. I have excelled in college-level classes in Period Styles, Scenic Design, Advanced Acting, Directing, Movement and Voice for the Actor, and Theater History.
