B.A., Denison University
Sacred HEart University (Master's)
I have a B.A. degree in Political Science from Denison University in Ohio and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. I have taught grades 4-8, including special education children, and have over 20 years of tutoring experience with elementary through high school students. My favorite subjects are pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and SAT Math.
I am passionate about conveying my love and knowledge of math to my students. I truly believe that anybody can become successful in math. I am very patient, upbeat, and encouraging with my students.
In addition to reviewing homework assignments, I teach key concepts, study skills, and test taking strategies that a student is able to use going forward. I regularly contact my student's teachers to get their input on skill gaps and areas in need of improvement. I also like to get feedback from the teacher as to what concepts she will be teaching next so I can introduce these concepts and the student can be "one step ahead" of the class. Realizing that not all students learn the same way, I have a variety of approaches and sources at my disposal.
I look forward to working with your child.

Alex has had a few different tutors here at WyzAnt and has had nothing but great things to say about Jeff! Jeff is very patient, smart and flexible. I give Jeff 5 stars.
Jeff is patient and very thorough when explaining the math problems. He makes sure you understand how he got the answer before moving on to the next problem. He writes examples and notes for each problem, and gives them to you at the end of the session. This really helps me because I'm a big picture person and need to see all the small details. The fact that he does this also allows me to focus more on what he is explaining.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
