About Kenneth

I have close to 30 years working with people with different challenges. I have never given up on any student, but I am not a drill seargent. I am flexible to be able reach the student's needs. If what I thought would work doesn't, I will look for another way to get that point across so the student understands the concept. There are many ways to reach a student, and the art is to find the one that works; that is the job of the tutor. This is what tutoring is all about: getting the student to understand the concepts being taught. I have close to 30 years working with people with different challenges. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have experience working with a variety of special populations including ADHD, mental health and autism. These experiences span a time line of over 25 years. I have the knowledge and understanding of these individuals to work with them in a constructive way to meet their educational goals

Algebra 1

I'm able to explain concepts on various formulas probability graphing.

Elementary Math

In my teaching of math a student was taking a Senator on a tour of my school. She stopped and said "this is the classroom of the best teacher in the school". This student came to my class and first words were "I hate math!". At the end of the school year she passed the end of course test, She was surprised because due to the approach she was made to feel she could succeed and she did.

Special Needs

I'm a certified teacher in special ed, grades P-8 in all core subjects. I have worked with persons with disabilities for over 30 years.
