About Ingrid

I studied architecture and graduated with a Master's degree from the University Of Puerto Rico. Although I'm an architect, I'll always love to teach and tutor. This love comes since I was a little child. On school I was always helping kids from other grades to make homework and study for exams. Also teachers will look for me for assisting on exam making, corrections and submission. When I begin studying at college level I had a side job as a tutor for three years and I tutor in all courses from middle and high school. Later on I became a Teacher Assistant at undergraduate level, tutoring students in different courses, mostly, Architectural History, Structures and Theory of Architecture. Apart from that, when I graduated, I have also different experiences teaching; art and design and also as a Bricks4kidz teacher where we use Legos to improve skills in math and science for students.

Recently I moved to Acworth, GA and I'm in love with the city and surroundings. I'm pursuing a career change to become a teacher and I'm looking to tutor students so I can help them improve in their classes and at the same time get to know more about the educational system here. I'm fully bilingual in English and Spanish and can tutor in any of it. The subjects I feel more comfortable tutoring are the regular courses at elementary and middle school level (Science, Social Studies, Reading comprehension and Language - Spanish as a second language, Art). I also can tutor at high school on Spanish and Art. Apart from that, I studied Graphic Design and can tutor on a basic to intermediate level Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and Architecture (Drafting, design, architecture history and others). My approach to tutoring is to work with every student individually because every student is different. I have also some experience teaching and tutoring kids with autism, ADHD and other developmental disorders.

I'm an avid reader both in English and Spanish. Spanish is my native language and I also excelled in Spanish and English in Spelling Bee, Regional and National Assessments, College Board, Thesis composition as well as winning awards from tournaments of the National Honor Society in PR. I love to teach students at the elementary level because they inspire me to keep learning every day. I am pretty confident that I can help students at elementary level with almost any course, except languages that are not Spanish or English. In college I took non-credit courses in Graphic design, Photography, Ceramics, Serigraphy, Calligraphy, Block printing and others. I have also taught art and design at different levels.

I'm available from 9am to 9pm Monday to Fridays and have availability on weekends with previous notice. I can tutor online or travel to a destination. Group tutoring can be arranged depending on the quantity of students, level and courses and tutoring charge will be lower per student. Parents and students can get in touch with me with confidence for any questions and if they want to meet in person previous to accept me as a tutor.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Architecture

I have a Bachelor and a Master in Architecture. I have taught as an Assistant Professor at undergraduate level and the master's degree make me qualified for teaching or tutoring in architecture at an undergraduate level.

Drawing

I feel confident in tutoring in Drawing because I have experience teaching Basic and Intermediate Drawing. Also I have mastered my drawing skills and knowledge from all the design courses, project presentations and proposals at college during my Bachelor and Master in Architecture and at a professional level while working as an Architect/Designer for more than ten years.

Graphic Design

I studied Architecture and as part of the Bachelor and Master preparation we have to take courses in design, graphic design, visual communication and other related courses and use that knowledge to prepare proposals for our students projects. I always excel at them and also usually help other classmates with theirs. Also I take non-credit courses and have experience working as a Graphic designer.
