I have an undergraduate degree in history, and have recently completed my thesis to obtain my master's in history. I have already been accepted to one of the top 20 history PhD programs in the world for the 2013 school year. I am just looking for some work in the mean time.
I am well versed in all history levels and a variety of subjects, although my main expertise lies in American History, World War I and II and British History from the Middle Ages through World War I. I am writing my thesis on the Provincial Legislature in Georgia and the patriot movement that influenced it. I have teaching experience at the high school level, including all high school social science subjects, as well as numerous years of coaching experience, all to say that I am quite comfortable working with young people. I am also comfortable working with college students as my focus will be in achieving that level of expertise regardless of the students being in high school or college. My belief is that history must be critically thought about and discussed in order to be understood. It is not so much about what happened as the why and the end result.
I have a great deal of writing experience as well, having been published numerous times for various writings, ranging from newspapers to magazines. I feel comfortable both in educating how best to organize correct history writings, as well as how to structure them. I believe that whatever your child's or your needs might be in regards to history or the social sciences I am more than capable, indeed I would be honored, to help them understand the subject I have devoted my life to, better. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
