Dear Future Student:
My name is Yared W. I Graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Civil Engineering. Go Gators! I have been in working as a civil engineer for the past 4 years. As, a field engineer I am able to manage construction projects, ensuring that they are scheduled and built in accordance with the plans and specifications. I am also responsible for design and safety of temporary structures used during construction. Another aspect of my job is to work with the design team to perform design calculations where I need to utilize high level math skills involving calculus, trigonometry, advance algebra etc. I recently passed my PE exam, which gives me the title of a registered Professional Engineer. Before I was able attain this license I needed 4 years of experience working under a Professional Engineer, pass two intensive competency exams and then earn a license from the state licensure board. This has been a great achievement for in me, which I worked really hard to accomplish.
I am a firm believer in hard work. I believe that anything is possible as long as you are willing to put in the work. That is my motto when it comes to my job as an engineer and I will try to instill this same belief as your tutor. Many a times I hear young students like you say, "this is too hard," "I'm not good at math" or "I'm never going to understand this." I can see their frustration and many get discouraged in their abilities. This is the first thing we will work on as a team. In order to succeed in anything in life you need to have confidence. So, one of my greatest responsibility as your math tutor shall be to help you believe in your ability to improve and master the skills needed to success in math. This is my approach when it comes to tutoring. I have great confidence in this approach because as a tutor for the last 2 years it has worked with great success with my past students. We will work together as a team to modify all instruction in order to meet your individual need for success. I am patient, encouraging, open-minded and willing to try different learning approaches to help you succeed. To be good in math you must work hard so I plan to continuously encourage, and challenge you as you work towards your goal.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
