About Anthony

*If you can't afford my standard rate, let me know, and I'll see what I can do to help you. Abide by the will and timing of God, and all will go very well with your soul in Christ Jesus, the Father of Lights. Amen.

Our Father in heaven is so majestic, wonderful, loving, and omnipotent. He created all the beauty you see in the night's sky in only six, 24-hour days :) Given God's loving hand in designing our entire universe from nothing (ex nihilo), we can rest assured that we all have a specific purpose, designed by God for the glory of His Only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to whom be all majesty, glory, dominion, and power forever and ever. Amen.

This, though, seems like a strange thought, one that is out of place or popularly believed to be reserved for the privacy of one's inner life, secretly kept (and maintained, at one's discretion, or seasonal craving) so as not to disturb the status quo--the modus operandi--of secular life, public life--the sphere of existence that shushes any mention of, or proclamation of, or devotion to the Omnipotent, Everlasting Creator. What's more, many have become disheartened by the apparent chaotic gears of a socially--and emotionally--mechanistic world order, one that impassionedly questions the existence of our Loving Father—doubting the reality of Scripture’s claim that God is truly love, is truly with us--in this raging sea of vicissitudes we call life (cf. 1 John 4:10). 'So how,' some might quip, 'can you claim that there is a loving purpose, i.e. with all the senseless evil in the world and all?' Well, keep reading.

What does all of the above have to do with tutoring? Nothing—and everything! Nothing because your devotion to the Lord Jesus will not help you to survive in this world. Everything because fulfilling your God-given purpose in life is the only thing that truly matters.

That said, I am a servant of Christ, first, and a professional tutor, second. As my top priority is always pleasing God, I just see tutoring as a means for taking care of earthly responsibilities, until I have completed my task here and now or until the glorious appearance of the Lord Jesus.

By the loving grace of God, I tutored English/Essay writing at Valencia College close to 4 years, 1/2012-11/2015. In this time, I completed over 3,750 sessions and was the most requested tutor at the West Campus for several semesters. In addition, having completed over 1403 sessions (and counting), I have a 4.4/5.0-star rating on another tutoring site. Presently, I work for TutorABC full-time and am maintaining a 9,5/10 rating average.

Before discovering my passion for God's work, I was a pre-engineering student, so I passed multivariable calculus, physics, and chemistry with flying colors. I graduated from Davidson in 2008 with a BA in Religion, and I am now seeking to unite devout believers across America. Given this, my focus is on being used of God to create a domestic and international missions organization, Christ the Loving King Ministries. The focus of this ministry is to inspire church leaders to reconnect to primitive faith in Christ, to prepare the Bride of Christ for the Lord's glorious appearance, and to show all of humanity the love of Christ Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords!

Given the grace that God has poured so liberally upon me, my being from the most dangerous areas of Orlando's inner-city, I am compelled--by Love, for love--to share the testimony of God's unmerited mercy in my life. Hence, although I care most about the eternal welfare of all people's souls, I will not pressure you or make you feel uncomfortable in any way. If you do not wish to talk about the Lord Jesus Christ, I will simply pray for you and show you His love.

Now, to answer the query about purpose, I encourage you, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to reframe the way you think--to be transformed by the renewal of your mind. How? Understand that this life is just a test: do you desire to worship the King eternally, or do you desire...the alternative? The choice is yours. The decision is now. The effect is eternal. As the Scripture says, "Life and death are before you this day. Choose life." Choose Jesus Christ, He who was and is and is to come, the Almighty.

Blessings, love, and peace to you :)

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I have completed over 1,000 sessions in English/English Essay Writing, including ACT English prep.

ACT Math

I love math and am really good at helping students prepare for standardized tests such as the ACT.

ACT Science

I love science! I aced algebra-based physics and earned a B in Introductory Chemistry in college. Getting a great score in ACT Science is mostly about your scientific reasoning skills but having a solid grasp of different scientific ideas is definitely a plus.

Algebra 1

I have successfully tutored students in TEAS Math and Algebra 1. Students like my approach to math because I keep things simple, help them to clearly justify their answers, and break down formulas in a way that empowers the learner to both understand and memorize them. Also, in college, I passed multivariable calculus and aced algebra-based physics. I love math! :)

Algebra 2

Last semester, I had the pleasure of working with an Algebra 2 Honors student and absolutely enjoyed the experience! Over the course of just 5 sessions, I helped him to become less anxious and more confident and focused, such that he started becoming more interested in mathematical proofs instead of just plugging numbers into various formulas.

Bible Studies

I graduated with a BA in Religion. My undergrad thesis was on the occurrence of horama within the Luke-Acts unit of the NT. Currently, I am working on my MDiv at Asbury Theological Seminary.

I graduated from a very rigorous institution, Davidson College. There, I earned a B- in multivariable calculus and a B in differential/integral calculus. The key to calculus is just understanding the principles and then doing a lot of practice. If you try to practice without having a sufficient understanding, it will most likely become challenging for you to solve a problem that you have not seen before. Calculus is simply the math about instantaneous change.

Elementary (K-6th)

When I work with children, I utilize a lot of material and theories from the child development and counseling courses I've already completed. For example, I once helped an ADHD third grader improve his reading comprehension skills in only 3 sessions, so much so that his mother was in disbelief! The key was to use illustrations that required motion while being gentle yet firm during each session, giving him short 5 minute breaks every 30 minutes. It's not that ADHD children can't learn normally; it's just they learn differently. One must know how to connect to this learning style. In addition, I am an experienced Sunday School teacher, so children love me and respond to me very well. Lastly, given my rigorous liberal arts education, I'm able to help them in all subjects (e.g. reading, writing, math, and science).

Elementary Math

I'm great at working with kids. Just last summer, I helped a third grader with basic arithmetic.

Elementary Science

The key to teaching kids science is making it fun. God created a very cool universe that we can explore, whose beauty we can greatly appreciate as an act of worship to the Creator. Children love doing hands-on science experiments and learning about God's created order.

I have been tutoring internally at a local college for almost 4 years, having completed close to 4,000 sessions in that time. Additionally, I have a 4.35/5.0-star rating on another tutoring site for 1,000+ English/Essay Writing sessions. Given my 2.5 years of training in ancient languages (e.g. Greek and Hebrew), I approach English/Writing sessions from a linguistics perspective, which allows me to break down every single concept in a way that's commonsensical to the average student. Many students love me because I'm extremely thorough, I make sure they understand the technical principles behind grammar/punctuation rules, and I lovingly encourage them to be independent and self-sufficient students--pushing them to actualize their full potential.

I've been tutoring at a local college for nearly four years now and have had the blessed opportunity of working with ESL/ESOL students quite frequently. They love me because I like to breakdown concepts in a way that can be easily understood. Plus, God has blessed me with a lot of patience, so they love that as well. I just love to help people! :)

I helped one young lady to pass her GED in only three sessions. Plus, I'm very gifted at teaching high school subjects and students. If you work hard, God will bless you with good result, if He so wills :)

I love math! I tutor up to calculus and enjoy helping my students see the beautiful of God's creation, how He created everything we see in a way that can be mathematically discerned. Soli Deo gloria!

I've tutored students from the preparatory English level up to the English composition level. As a result, I have developed a set consulting method based on tutoring experience, writing experience, and formal counseling training. This method enables me to target critical areas for any given student, strengthen them, and provide resources for practice. More specifically, I seek to strengthen these areas: structural coherence, syntactical subordination and coordination, transitions, word choice, setting off non-essentials, varying sentence structures, correlating conclusions with essay purpose, and much more.

In undergrad, I took three semesters of Attic Greek and one semester of Koine Greek. In grad school, I opted out of Greek courses after successfully passing the competency test.

I regularly tutor literature as an internal tutor for a local college. In the span of four years, I have completed over 5,000 English/English Essay Writing sessions.

I tutor Prealgebra regularly and use kinesthetic teaching techniques to help students concretize the abstract concepts. I love Prealgebra because it seems to be most applicable to a large part of daily living.

I edited an entire book for one pastor. Plus, I just finished editing a master's thesis for another pastor, who would like to hire me to edit his doctoral dissertation as well. Editing is very easy for me, and I love doing it :)

I already have my certification in SAT tutoring, tutor math regularly, and have extensive experience in tutoring English/English Essay Writing. Also, I have a substantial amount of test prep tutoring experience.

In college, I took introductory psychology, child development, and organizational development (a branch of IO psychology). In graduate school, I have taken counseling theories and interventions, psychology of religion, family crisis counseling and interventions, pastoral care counseling, and couples counseling. I am currently a third of the way through my Master's of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy degree.

Public Speaking

I've taken two classes on oral communication: Introduction to Principles of Oral Communication and Foundation for Proclamation. I took the former in undergrad and spoke at many occasions, including an alumni-filled scholarship dinner, fraternity events requiring presidential address, and church internship events. I took the latter while in graduate school, leading up to my first sermon on Good Friday, 2012.

I have tutored various developmental reading, ESL reading, and test prep reading students for the last four years. Plus, I am great at teaching students how to justify their selections when answering reading comprehension, multiple choice questions.

I have a BA in Religion and have completed 75% of the coursework for a Master's of Divinity degree. Also, I am very knowledgeable about the most popular world religions, and by God's grace, I have a natural gift for theology.

SAT Math

I tutor math regularly and earned a B- in multivariable calculus. In addition, I have also completed a few SAT prep modules. I teach students vital concepts and test-taking skills in order to help them maximize their scores.

SAT Writing

I'm ideal for SAT Writing prep because I am skilled and experienced at helping students with parts of speech and syntactical elements recognition.

The key to spelling is just rote memorization, but understanding word etymology is also a plus. Many of our English words come from Greek, Latin, and various Germanic languages. I recommend using an unfamiliar word within a practical sentence in order to help with the memorization of it.

Study Skills

Having completed close to 5,000 tutoring sessions over the last four years, my hypothesis is that most people who need tutoring are tactile learners, especially since classrooms tend to favor visual and auditory learners more. I use neuro-linguistic programming analysis to determine each student's learning style preference and then adapt my approach accordingly. Also, I teach students how to study most effectively according to their learning style preference. With respect to educational background, I pull from my child development and counseling courses to conduct assessments and analysis. Because of this approach, I am able to help most people to become more self-sufficient within 2-3 sessions.

I've helped 12 nursing students to prepare for the TEAS. Since English is my specialty, I start by helping them maximize their scores for the Reading and Language Arts sections. Then, I use my pre-engineering background to help them max out the Math section. Lastly, for Science, I determine their learning style preference and provide them with optimal study methods in accordance to that, being sure to explain any scientific concept along the way.

I have assisted countless ESL/ESOL over the last four years as an internal tutor at a local college. I break down concepts in such an easy-to-understand way that many of my ESL/ESOL return for further assistance. I enjoy making abstract concepts accessible and practical for the average person, which is optimal while assisting a non-native speaker.

My training in Greek and Biblical Hebrew has given me the foundation for studying and memorizing word etymology, a sub-field within linguistics. I could help students increase their vocabulary by teaching study techniques for linguistics.

Having completed over 5,000 English/English Essay Writing sessions within the last four years, I am a pro at helping students at various points in the writing process, especially thesis formulation and outlining. The key to writing a good essay is following the writing process: converting the prompt into a central question, responding to the central question to create a thesis, supporting your thesis with main points, outlining, rough drafting, and revising. I recommend spending the bulk of your time in the revision cycle, being sure to read your paper aloud at least three times before submitting it.
