Hi! I'm Hannah.

I have a lot of fun teaching and learning math. I am a hardworking, honest, and trustworthy person. I am used to teaching and helping my sisters in multiple mathematical topics. I am also good at self-teaching, so if there is a topic you need help with that I haven't seen before, I am confident that I can learn it quickly. I am a relatable person and very easy to talk to.

Hi! I'm Hannah.

I am also good at self-teaching, so if there is a topic you need help with that I haven't seen before, I am confident that I can learn it quickly. I am a relatable person and very easy to talk to.

My cumulative GPA in high school was 4.33 and I was ranked in the top ten percent. I have five IB Certificates and my scores were all 5 and above (scores are out of 7). I was a member of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society.

I was also accepted into prestigious universities including Carnegie Mellon University and New York University.

At Carnegie Mellon, I was on the Dean's List with High Honors in both Fall 2017 and Spring 2018. I was a member of Lambda Sigma and a Dietrich College Peer Advisor. I also played on the varsity tennis team at Carnegie Mellon and was an ITA Scholar.

While tutoring, I will make sure to implement the values I use to keep myself working hard in my own studies:

1. Learning anything is a process. It's not going to happen overnight, but a tutor can certainly help!
2. Challenges make us better people! Math is difficult at times, but it's also fun when you look at it the right way.
3. Hard work and attitude means a lot more than talent.

I also have a British accent and neat handwriting if that makes me more appealing. :)

GRE

GRE

I am very comfortable with teaching all of the mathematical concepts on the GRE test. I have been exposed to the topics for quite a long time, both within my own studies and in tutoring as well. I have helped lots of students increase their confidence in questions they find more difficult, which results in fewer nerves before the test and improved scores.

I have a lot of experience teaching introductory statistics courses. I have taken higher level calculus-based statistics courses involving proof-based mathematics. Thanks to stats, I also know my way around the Greek alphabet if you're interested in that too. :)

Elementary Math

I have two younger sisters and have been able to help them and their friends a lot with their math. They don't like the subject that much so I had to find ways to keep them engaged and interested. I have also taken IB mathematics in high school, theoretical classes, statistics, Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus III in college. Most importantly, I am a really good communicator and find it easy to work with children and explain concepts on their level.

Homeschool

Calculus,

Calculus

I have taken college calculus courses all the way up to Calculus III. I have also taken and tutored statistics classes that involve the applications of calculus. The subject became fun for me when I started to intuitively understand where the formulas were coming from and why they were useful.
Geometry,

Geometry

I like to draw pictures to explain the "why" behind geometry. I have helped lots of people grasp the intuition behind certain concepts and theorems so it actually makes sense and isn't something they feel like they are obligated to memorize.

Probability,

Probability

I have taken Calculus-based probability courses that integrated (no pun intended) difficult combination and permutation problems, probability laws, and the understanding of discrete and continuous random variables and their respective mass/density functions. I have been able to help students with these types of problems by breaking down each step and reinforcing the intuition behind what is actually going on. I have found that I highly enjoy these types of probability problems because they require some critical thinking and logic as well as mathematics.

Amazing as usual

Hannah really takes time and makes sure you understand the work you’re doing, and is super patient- even when going over super strenuous problems and I’m having trouble understanding

Rachel, 7 lessons with Hannah

Algebra 1 and 7th grade math

Hannah did a great job with both of my kids. Algebra 1 - They worked on slope of lines, x and y coordinates and linear equations in general. Hannah gave my 7th grader some easy way to remember things, helped with exponents and even showed her some items that would be coming up shortly for her.

Competent and fun tutor

Hannah, is a great individual and tutor! I have learned so much in such a little time with Hannah. The methods, explanations and approach she utilizes are excellent! Very easy to understand the "why" or the "how" to get the solution, not simply following a process for a given formula. Will request Hannah's assistance again!

Upbeat and Knowledgeable Math Tutor

Student Point of View: Hannah has taught me more math in a month than other teachers in a year. When she explains concepts and decodes problems, she will make you wonder 'How did I not get that' because of how she clearly explains math and makes sure you understand. Hannah is the best teacher you can hope for in the category of math. She is cordial, knowledgeable, obsessed with analogies to help you understand even more, upbeat, and tries her best to connect with each student. Parents Point of View: I have been looking for a math tutor who can connect with my child for a long time and we are so lucky to find Hannah!!! She motivates my daughter to learn math voluntarily and makes math simple and understandable for my daughter. I'm very happy to see my daughter has progressed greatly with Hannah's guidance. Furthermore, Hannah is super friendly and easy to talk to with any questions I have, and I also like her being responsible to fast reply on messages. I highly recommend Hannah as your future dream math teacher!

Amazing tutor!

Parent’s point of view: Hannah is contentious, easy to communicate with, quick to respond to questions, and very organized! My 16 yo daughter finds her very helpful and encouraging. She is a great tutor!

Great personality and makes concepts easier!

My daughter really enjoyed working with Hannah on pre-algerbra math!!! She is super friendly, engaging, and wonderful to break down more complicated topics in to easy to understand concepts!!! Awesome

A huge help!

Hannah was fantastic! She helped me complete a very specific extra credit assignment for my statistics class. She is very knowledgeable about stats, but still read up on the specific topic (Bland Altman plots) to ensure she could help me. She was kind, patient, knowledgeable and generous with her time. I highly recommend her.

5 Stars for a reason

I was on the edge about getting a tutor in general but I am very thankful I did. Hannah was patient when necessary while also getting through the material quickly and thoroughly. She excelled at breaking down seemingly complex problems into easily understandable pieces with her in-depth knowledge of the topics. As someone that dreads doing math, Hannah's enthusiasm made the entire process much more enjoyable and I would highly recommend her to anyone that's reading.
