I am a veteran teacher with over 14 years experience teaching secondary, post-secondary, and adult education level students. I have instructed students in: ACT Verbal/Writing, AICE Psychology, AICE Travel & Tourism, AVID, college writing & research, Economics, European History, Geography/Human Geography, QuickBooks accounting software, SAT Verbal/Writing, US Government, US History, and World History. I have taught at all levels: ESE, Gifted, ELL, Regular, Honors, Advanced Placement & AICE. In my years of teaching, I developed and modified lessons to assist in building the student's abilities in: reading, writing, and comprehension to advance them to their grade level and beyond.

Furthermore, I specialize in AP World History, having conducted that course for 9 years, with a successful pass rate. Also, I have sat on the revision and rewrite committee for the AP World History course. In this I was one of 100 teachers across the United States that was selected to assist in the modification and update of the curriculum and skills required for that course. I have specifically worked one-on-one tutoring students in AP European History, AP US History, AP US Gov't and AP World History. As a result of my Advanced Placement teaching experiences, I possess a strong skills set in: essay writing and revision, document analysis, and graphic interpretation and analysis.

I have taught an SAT/ACT Verbal Reading/Writing class to 11th graders for over 6 years and have been private tutoring students for the past 3 years in both exams. In this I have developed a detailed understanding and specific lessons that assist students in preparing for the verbal and writing portions of both exams.

I taught a QuickBooks course for 10 years to both accounting professionals and small business owners. For the last 8 years I have been working one-on-one with tutoring accounting industry professionals and small business owners in QB. I know both platforms for QB (PC and Mac) and the various QB versions (Basic, Pro, Premier, Accountant, Online). Additionally, I have 17.5 years of bookkeeping business experience in: Aviation, Automotive, Construction, and Health Care fields utilizing the QB software and its related products. This has allowed me to obtain an academic and practical understanding of the software.

Lastly, I have been tutoring one-on-one and instructing in MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. In this I can take you from the foundational levels of each program through to the most advanced. This, combined with having taught the QuickBooks course, has made me extremely comfortable and confident in the instruction of a software application.

I would highly recommend John for tutoring AP World History. He is knowledgeable, and takes the time to explain and review the topics that this demanding AP Exam requires. My son is very happy with how he takes time to break the topics down and makes it accessible and understandable. I would give him 5 Stars.

very knowledgeable and patient tutor

My 9th grader said "John knows what he is doing!". He went over key AP world history content, pointed out what's missing from school work, had a plan and strategy for AP exam prep.

Wizard of AP World History

In an hour and a half, John explained all of WWI and the Interwar Period to my daughter, including social and political causes and effects, and put the events in context of things that happened before and after. It's clear that he knows his stuff backwards and forwards, and really helped my daughter fill in some blanks from class sessions she had missed.

Awesome AP world tutor

He is very good in tutoring AP world history. He seems very knowledgeable in the subject and knows how to review for AP exam. He makes the student think about points they wouldn't generally bring up. Highly recommended!

Great

John has been great. My daughter was so lost in her History class, everytime she needed to study for a test she was stress out and very frustrated. John helped her to organize her material and challenged her with questions. The sessions have been fun and she enjoys them. Thank you John.
