I loved school, but sometimes homework can be hard and some people need a little extra help. As the oldest of five kids and a lot of cousins, I have lots of practice at helping with homework. I have also spent several years volunteering in public school classrooms, working as a nanny, and even have a parent who is a teacher. I have previously tutored elementary math, reading skills, algebra, college algebra, and writing basics for papers. I have worked with students, preschoolers, adults, and peers in these sessions so I am adept in changing how to approach the subject material to fit the audience.
With all that experience, I've learned that every one learns differently and I love finding new ways to explain concepts so students can really learn the material in the way that works for them. Depending on the subject being covered, real world examples and relatable topics are important tools to make hard concepts understandable for those that struggle with them. I look forward to building this relationship to ensure the best learning possible.
I excel at Algebra and finding ways to relate it to real life examples so the concept becomes tangible and easier to understand for those who struggle.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
