I have a passion for learning that I hope to pass on through teaching/tutoring. I think that it's important to make learning fun while also being meaningful. Children are really receptive to teachers and tutors attitudes and feelings and I think that truly having a passion for learning and education effects them in a positive way.
I am a current 3rd grade teacher in a public school and I love what I do! I enjoy teaching both reading and math! There is nothing more rewarding than guiding students to mastery and proficiency!
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." - MLK Jr.
I am very familiar with third grade and fifth grade math, as I have taught both grades. I am excellent at teaching critical thinking skills in math that allow your child to easily grasp grade-wide math concepts.
I have previously taught third and fifth grade, so I am extremely familiar with reading at the elementary level. Reading is so important and such a fundamental skill needed for success for the rest of your child's life! Through tutoring your child, I will find your child's reading level and guide him accordingly using level literacy intervention, fluency practice, etc., to help build toward fluency and comprehension goals for your child.
I am very familiar with teaching common core since it is required in the public schools, in which I am a current teacher!
I really enjoy teaching children at this level! I am enthusiastic and patient, and I really want to help your child become the best they can be in math and/or reading!
Please don't hesitate to contact me for any additional information or questions! I look forward to hearing from you! I have a passion for learning that I hope to pass on through teaching/tutoring. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
