About Todd

I would care for the opportunity to be your voice of encouragement and tutoring as you make your way in the world toward your success. During my 25 year law enforcement career with the New York State Police, I have been involved in individual and group teaching and training in both classroom and field environments.

I possess a Bachelor's Degree in Atmospheric Science, with a Minor in both Math and Science, which I received from the State University of New York at Albany. I have used my education and experience to mentor and educate students in both Elementary and High School environments. I have had the privilege of successfully mentoring individuals in both formal and informal settings for over 30 years. Although math and science, are my primary skills, I have extensive knowledge in many other subjects.

In 2014, I graduated with honors when I received my Masters Degree in Public Administration from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. The masters degree program was a constant evolving and exchanging of ideas and learning that enhanced skills, knowledge, and ideas. This co-creative process allowed for learning to be maximized by students and instructors. This paved the way for improving my interpersonal communication skills, as well as mastering the ability to exchange ideas, and to maximize learning.

I served on the School Boards for two different Elementary Schools in the capacity as a Board Member, including two terms as President. Years of experience provided me with an intimate knowledge of requirements and necessary support and tools that students and teachers need in order to promote learning and to ensure that no student is ever "left behind". I have been personally responsible in getting students to change their habits and learning techniques in a way that turned them around from failing grades to passing grades in their classes.

I am a hands-on and personable individual and use real-life examples to solve problems that may seem difficult to understand at first. My problem-solving skills as a police officer are useful in my abilities to tutor. Let me be your guide and we can work together to achieve your goals in mastering any subject. Choosing me a tutor may be the difference between success and failure to a worthy person who just needs an opportunity to believe in themselves. Please let me be that tutor for you.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science and a minor in Mathematics. I have a Masters degree, as well. When I took the ACT test, I did well due to a little bit of work. I look forward to helping you work so that you can ace it.

Algebra 1

I have a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree. I have always met the goals of everyone I have tutored.

Criminal Justice

I am a retired New York State Trooper with over 24 years of law enforcement experience. I worked in both patrol and administrative operations, having held the ranks of Sergeant, Station Commander, and Lieutenant. Overseeing patrol and criminal investigation operations with units during my career ranging from Counter-Terrorism, Gaming Operations, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Traffic Services, and Executive Services. Additionally, I was certified as a General Topics Instructor, as well as, but not limited to Critical Incident Facilitation Board Instructor training and Peace Officer Physical Fitness Instructor training.

Elementary Math

I have helped several children get on track with elementary math. This includes my own children, also. Some of my proven methods included creative writing as a learning tool.

Geometry

I have successfully mentored young students in geometry. My math background combined with a unique approach through real-life experience makes it easier to succeed in learning math.

Government & Politics

During my course studies in pursuit of my Masters in Public Administration, much of the learning was focused upon government politics and policy. The discussions and learning between students provided an exploration into a laboratory-like examination of how government works. Additionally, this process was then thoroughly explored and analyzed in a manner that applied reasoning and real-life understanding of why government operates the way it does. From leadership to constitutional law to e-government to public budgeting.
