About Liz

Bio

I currently teach Writing 1 & Semantics at a local high school. I have previously taught English 1 Honors and SAT/ACT prep at the same school. I am certified to teach English for grades 6-12. I also earned my Master's in Teaching Secondary English Education in 2017. Prior to working at this school, I worked as an ESOL teacher in South Korea from 2010-2014. Prior to that, I tutored both English and Algebra at the middle and high school levels at IMG Academy in Bradenton.

I love tutoring because I believe that students can greatly benefit from one-on-one assistance. This is especially true for areas such as reading and writing, where every students' needs are unique. Both of these skills are vital to academic success in all areas, so I would love to help students outside of my own classroom excel!

Aside from my qualifications and prior tutoring experience, there are a few things that make me such a successful tutor. The first is definitely passion for my subjects. As an avid reader and frequent writer, I feel like I can show students that these skills can be used and even enjoyed outside of an academic setting. The other thing that adds to my success is my patience. You can't be a teacher without infinite levels of patience. And while some may believe that it takes less patience to work with a student one-on-one, I would have to disagree. Students don't love hearing what they did wrong, so breaking down skills into manageable chunks and focusing on positives as well as areas for growth are both important aspects of tutoring.

As the 2019-2020 school year starts, make sure you're starting out on top! Don't wait until your grades begin to drop to reach out to a tutor. I can help you improve your reading & writing skills and help you get ready for your FSA or SAT, because it will be testing time before you know it. Contact me today to schedule a tutoring session!
