About Kelsea

I am currently a junior at USF majoring in Health Sciences to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant. I have helped many students with there school work over the past few years, although I don't have any official tutoring experience. Some of my past experiences with tutoring have been with an elementary school student in math and science from first to fourth grade. I have also helped several other classmates to better understand their schoolwork throughout middle school, high school, and college. I love helping others and hope that I'll be able to help you succeed in school, as well.

There are many tactics that I find particularly helpful with school. The first thing would most definitely be time management. Throughout my time in school and even currently while in college I have also been involved in several clubs, sports, and worked while balancing school, therefore I have found some very useful study tactics that have worked well with managing time. Some tactics I use when tutoring students varies upon the subject area, but I have found it to be very helpful to continually practice problems and to increase the difficulty over time. A good way to see if a student has fully grasped a concept is by examining if he or she is able to complete a very difficult problem within the topic that is being taught. If that student is able to do that they will most likely be able to complete any problem within that topic. This shows me that they are able to apply the skills they have learned well and affectively. I also think another helpful tactic to learning is completing practice tests and quizzes. I find using flashcards, diagrams, and charts to be useful as well. These are just some of the tactics I find to be helpful. I like to see what works best for each student and adjust how I tutor from there. I am very flexible with how I tutor and my ultimate goal is to help the student succeed, so we will try new tactics until we find what seems to work best for each individual student. Every student learns differently and finds different topics to be easy and challenging, which is why I believe it is important to tutor to the students needs. My goal is to not only help students with the subject area they are struggling in, but to also make the topics more interesting and fun to learn. I think an important thing to remember with school is to not just memorize a topic, but to fully understand and know the topic you are learning. I am excited to tutor students and look forward to working with you. I am open to helping any elementary, middle, high school, or college aged student with the math or science course they are taking.

Now allow me to give you a little bit more background information about me. In school I have always excelled in math and science, which impacted my decision to major in Health Sciences. I would love to help students with math and science because I particularly have a passion for these subjects. I love Algebra and am excited to help others succeed in math. I received a perfect score on the Algebra 1 EOC and feel that I would be able to help other students pass their EOC. I am willing to help any age level with math coursework. I have received A's in Anatomy, Chemistry, and Psychology. I would love to be able to share my love for science with other students. Some other accomplishments I have include: Outstanding Pre-AICE Geometry Student, Outstanding Pre-AICE Algebra 2 student, Outstanding AP Human Geography Student, Outstanding Spanish II Student and Outstanding Pre-AICE Chemistry Student. All of these awards were achieved at the high school level. I was also a part of the Dean's List every semester of high school and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.7 GPA. In addition, I spent my junior and senior year of high school as a full time college student, so in May of 2016 I graduated with my high school diploma and my Associate of Arts degree. A few other things about me are that I was a member of the National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society in high school.

I look forward to helping students succeed in school and working with you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
