I was a writing/English tutor at a Florida state college for four years. I'm easily immersed in making confusing grammatical or writing concepts come to life in ways one can remember. I have a passion for technical writing, although I also enjoy writing poetry and short stories. Citation styles, including MLA, APA, Chicago, CSE, and APA Lite, are my expertise.
Most of my students insist on being tutored by only me after our first appointment, as I cut right to the chase and explain concepts thoroughly. I'm glad to help at any time--day or night, I firmly believe that absolutely no question is a "stupid" question.
Anthropology is one of my strongest suits. Additionally, I have an extensive knowledge of modern world history to accompany many of the concepts covered, thus creating a full circle during explanations. I received A-pluses in several anthropology courses, including topics such as Africana and women's studies, as well as introductory courses covering anthropology and related fields.
English is by far my favorite subject, and I believe my excitement rubs off on students while practicing writing. Grammar can be difficult to master; however, with tricks to remember the rules, the time spent learning the subject can be cut in half. Additionally, I have four years of experience working with EAP students, and welcome them to use my services. Thank you. I was a writing/English tutor at a Florida state college for four years. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
