About Saul

My name is Saul L. Ever since I was a child I was surrounded by music. It was the only thing I was passionate about. My Father always played guitar in the church band and, I always wanted to learn how to play. It wasn't until I entered the 6th grade that I decided i wanted to learn how to play an instrument.

My mission is to find kids who are equally crazy about music, whether young or old, and teach them all that I know in an inventive and creative way. I love being able to share such an amazing and fulfilling skill with all who are willing to learn.

I am very strong in Music Theory. I know a lot about rhythm and melodies. I can teach a variety of different instruments but, guitar, drums and piano are my biggest strengths. It's what I've been exposed to the most.

At the moment I am currently enrolled in HCC Music Education Transfer Track program which involves rigorous work in the Music Field. I plan to become a Music Teacher and continue my work wherever I go.

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me.
I'm available anytime after 12 p.m.
Thank You & God Bless

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I personally love teaching math because there are a vast number of ways to compare Algebra to real life situations. I like to personalize the questions in order to make the student feel more comfortable. With more comfort comes more confidence to bring up questions.

Which, in my opinion, are very essential in teaching. If i'm talking the whole time then I have no clue where my student is at in their level of understanding of Algebra. I passed with A's when tested for Algebra. It was always my favorite subject.

Guitar

Depending on the style that the student wants to learn (Guitar Picking or Chords) I always get the ball rolling on Chords.

Chords are the essence of Guitar Playing and in learning more chords the student learns more about music theory naturally.

I've taught plenty of students on how to play the guitar. I am self taught yet, I know a lot about Chord Progressions from reading and studying Guitar based books. I also played bass in my high school jazz band and currently play guitar at an intermediate level.

Piano

When teaching piano I like to start off by knowing how much the student knows about music theory. If it's on the beginner side I tend to use less intense words like "Half-Step" or "Interval." Instead of these fancy words I would improvise yet, I eventually get the ball rolling on those common words.
I took a piano proficiency course in high school and am currently taking Freshmen Piano Class (College Level) to go finish off my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education.
