University of South Florida (English)
Thank you for visiting my profile! I'm delighted you are here! There is so much I would like to share with you about myself and so much I would like to learn and understand about you as well. For starters, I wonder primarily what it is that is motivating you to study English. Are you new to the United States and just a beginner with the language or do you need a better command of the language for business, or perhaps to pass a test in school? Well, no worries. You have come to the right place. I understand.
There is much I could tell you but in short, chances are I have been in a similar situation myself. For one year, I lived in Japan teaching primarily conversational English with students ranging from age 3 to senior citizens. I also taught business English to nursing students as well as scientists. It was an incredibly rewarding experience for my students as well as myself. We worked together, and shared not only the language but also our cultures. I must say, I could not have had this experience without having my bachelor's degree in English as well as becoming TESOL certified from The Lado International College in Washington, D.C.
I also studied a semester of Japanese at Florida State University where I not only learned basic Japanese, but also Hiragana and Katakana. Upon returning to the states I continued by teaching English in the public school system here in Florida. My students were primarily teenagers, and they came to this country from all over the world. I always strive to create enjoyable English lessons. I find music, games and even movies to be of great assistance in mastering the English language. While my primary focus is conversational English, I am experienced in teaching English grammar as well and will certainly be happy to help you work through your text books or any other material you may be using at this time. My goal is for you to achieve your goals as quickly and efficiently as possible, in a manner in which you most enjoy.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
