Hillsborough Community College (Computer Science)
I am a student at Hillsborough Community College, Dale Mabry campus. I am studying to complete my Associate of Arts in Computer Science and plan to transfer to to a four year university in order to pursue a degree in Engineering.
I currently work as a tutor in the Academic Success Center in the Tutoring Commons. I have worked here for almost a year and have a fantastic experience interacting and aiding students in College Algebra, Computer Basics, Economics, Statistics, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Calculus I, Calculus II and Physics.
My tutoring experience at Hillsborough Community College and starting to private tutor began when I was recommended by one of my professors to start helping my classmates and pursue a job at the tutoring center of my college.
After starting, I was captivated by helping others and being able to help them have 'lightbulbs' go off. When I see that my student understands, I feel like have done a great service not only for myself, but more importantly for them.
I am student success driven with a can-do attitude and the ability to help a wide range of people. As a bilingual tutor, I am able to help students of both Spanish speaking and English speaking backgrounds. I love being able to help so many more people with this skill set.
I have extensive experience tutoring at the collegiate level. While working towards my degree, I have worked up to 20 hours a week tutoring hour long sessions with students at in university level courses.
I am passionate about tutoring and helping others! As I am determined to further my education, I continuously strive to help others achieve their academic goals and aid in the pursuit of reaching their objectives. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
