I am an experienced teacher who is passionate about pedagogy, literacy instruction, and helping kids learn in fun and engaging ways. I have worked in varying capacities with students in five different grade levels and am currently certified in Florida for grades K-6. After student teaching in fourth and first grades, and graduating with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education, I began my career teaching second grade at Alexandria City Public Schools in Virginia, where I was fortunate to work with a diverse group of students. I co-taught an English Language Learner inclusive classroom, worked with a group of struggling readers, and offered a challenging curriculum for accelerated learners. Working with diverse populations, I became extremely proficient analyzing student learning, and delivering instruction to meet a child's indivigual needs. Following this, I began teaching a Prek4 class in Washington DC, where all of my students graduated six months to one year advanced in reading. I began tutoring shortly after moving to Florida.
I greatly enjoy tutoring, because it gives me the opportunity to create a learning program specifically tailored to a student's individual needs, accelerating classroom learning. I also believe that learning should be fun, and tutoring allows me to provide even more hands-on experiences and games that make learning easier.
I hope to talk to you soon about ways I can help your student advance in their learning.

Sarah taught my three year old son letter sounds, counting, patterns, plus made sure to include a little play time. She accomplished a lot in a short amount of time, all while being very kind and patient. My son has been talking about her since his session and practicing his work (that she provided) at home.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently licensed to teach preschool through sixth grade, and have a master's degree in Elementary Education. I also taught second grade in public schools for three years.
I have a master's degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in literacy. I use a word study approach to phonics and have students look for spelling patterns in their reading.
