Bio

I am currently a forensic science major at The University of Tampa. I have done peer tutoring for math, English, and science through the National Honor Society, as well as paid tutoring through the University. I have also volunteered at AFCAAM, a charity for underprivileged elementary school age children in my home town. I love being able to help students make connections between concepts and have the confidence to solve problems on future homework assignments and assessments.

High school math and science can be hard, but I aim to help students be able to understand these complex ideas and break them down into manageable pieces. While in high school, I took all honors and AP level classes and made the honor roll every semester. I strive to make every student's learning experience with me a positive one.

I specialize in math, specifically algebra, reading and writing skills, and science. I will assign extra work for students to complete in order to solidify their understanding of key concepts, and will provide feedback to both the parent and the student through progress reports and assessments. It is important to me that anyone I tutor has a complete understanding of a concept before moving on and building upon said concept.

I have always had high grades in math, and I especially love algebra and calculus. I see math as a second language, and once one understands the basics of any language, he or she is able to build upon those basics. I have experience with tutoring elementary level mathematics in an informal setting, as well as peer tutoring fellow students in higher-level mathematics.

As an avid reader, proper grammar and sentence structure have come naturally for me, as well as superb reading comprehension skills. These are evidenced by my scores of 35 (out of 36) in the English and the reading sections of the ACT. I have volunteered my time helping disadvantaged elementary school students read and complete English homework through weekly one-hour sessions. I also have experience proofreading and editing essays and papers and would be willing to negotiate a special rate based on the length of the text.

As previously stated, I am currently a forensic science major. In high school, I took both AP Biology and AP Chemistry classes and subsequently passed both AP tests. I have also taken college courses in general chemistry, anatomy, and biology. I have also had experience in creating science fair presentations and can assist in the preparation for these.

I prefer to tutor at a library or other public place in or near downtown Tampa, or online through Wyzant. My base rate is $30/hour, but the rate can be negotiated if circumstances allow. As a courtesy, a cancellation fee will be assessed if the student is more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled lesson. While I don't have professional experience, I am a dedicated student who wants to lead others to academic success.

I look forward to communicating with you and helping you or your child succeed!

Elementary Education

Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

Elementary math is the first stepping stone to understanding mathematics as a whole. By building a strong foundation in the basic concepts of math, students are able to build upon their knowledge. I have received A's in all of my high school honors math classes, which include algebra 2, geometry, statistics, and AP calculus AB. Previous students of mine have more confidence when practicing their math skills, which has been shown by high grades on school assessments.
Elementary Science,

Elementary Science

I am currently a forensic science major at the University of Tampa. I believe that establishing a strong scientific background in elementary school enables a student to thrive in higher level courses, and gets them excited about the field in general. I have taken both honors and AP level science courses, which include biology, chemistry, physics, and anatomy, and have had As in all, in addition to passing the AP tests.

Thank you

My son was a very reluctant student because he has not used a tutor before. I think the first 30 minutes were spent with him settling into the idea. In the end he seemed to have a better understanding and be somewhat relieved and more confident. I am looking forward to more sessions with Tiffany.

Good teacher

Tiffany was very patient with me and she helped me better understand the problems. She also let me know when I was doing something right or wrong, which I think is very important. She didn’t get upset about anything that I asked her even if it was more than one time. I’m very appreciative of her time.

Tiffany is awesome

Tiffany has been helping my daughter for two years now. Algebra 2-Precalc. She is a life saver! She is very patient and makes Grace feel at ease. I'll be sad when she graduates

Positive and helpful

Tiffany tutored our daughter in Algebra 2 today and helped her with her current homework/assignment. Tiffany was helpful and positive. The last star for a 5 rating is missing due to the level of tutor experience as Tiffany is still young. We would use Tiffany for help with her homework again, and are happy to recommend her for that.
