I was born and raised in Michigan. I obtained bachelor's in elementary education with a focus in science and social science. I also obtained my master's in educational counseling. Additionally, I have begun a doctoral program in education administration.
I have taught in Michigan and Nevada. I taught all subjects from 3rd to 8th grade. Most of my experience in teaching is in the subject of reading. I have also worked with students as a counselor in career education, character education, and preparing and passing standardized and/or requisite testing to graduate. I have taught math for 3rd, 5th, and 6th graders.
I have achieved Highly Qualified status in reading in the state of Nevada.
As a counselor, it was a part of curriculum. I organized and implemented career fairs, facilitated career exploration from 6th to 12th grade, provided a bridge between school and higher education institutions and military careers.
Most of my undergraduate studies were in American History. History is my favorite subject.
I am easy to work and get along with. I try to simplify concepts to help you learn. I use a lot of humor in my teaching. If you're not enjoying the learning process, I'm not doing my job. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a master's degree in educational counseling. I have had several public school counseling positions spanning over 10 years from Pre-K to 12th grade.
Some of my duties and accomplishments were: career exploration and education; character education; individual and group counseling; organizing, implementing, and facilitating career days/fairs; preparing and tutoring students for both standardized testing as well as ASVABS, high school proficiency exams, career and technical training exams, and post high school graduation essays and the like for higher education institutions; and also provided a bridge as a liaison between high schools and higher education institutions, training/vocational schools, and all branches of the military.
