As a certified math teacher, I have taught 7th-grade mathematics and virtually every high school math course except calculus. I have experience in both public and private school settings, have tutored individual students and have taught ACT prep courses.
I hold a master's degree in linguistics, specifically in teaching English as a second language. I enjoy learning other languages, learning about other cultures, and traveling to other countries. I am certified in Florida as an ESOL teacher, as well as a math teacher. I have taught ESOL in public school, and I also served as a volunteer ESOL tutor with an immigrant organization in Chicago.
I know my math, and I know where students have difficulties and what can cause them. I have many years of experience working with young people, building their math skills. I also enjoy sharing the great things about the English language with those who want to learn.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
