In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken courses in learning theories, curriculum and instruction, and interventions in reading and mathematics as part of my graduate degree in school psychology. I work with teachers and parents in school to deliver and monitor interventions to children who need support. I provide interventions in reading and math to children grades Pre-K-12.
I have been trained as a school psychologist to evaluate and intervene with children with special needs and currently do so in elementary and secondary schools. Students I have worked with have included students with learning disabilities, attention difficulties, and behavior and social difficulties. The majority of my interventions focus on reading and integrate reinforcement of positive behaviors and good study habits.
