About Matthew

I have 10 years of teaching experience that varies from college level history and politics to high school courses including; many social studies subjects (see history qualifications for specifics), writing, algebra and geometry. My experience comes from teaching at a University and several elite prep schools along the east coast. I have been told that I teach effectively through the use of stories and humor. My goal is to help students learn the material in whatever way works best for them. I am able to adapt my teaching style to the type of learner that I am working with. I think you will find that I am easy to get along with while having the best interest of the student at heart.

I have taught almost every subject within social studies at different levels (college prep, Honors and AP) including but not limited to; American History, World History, Politics, Government and Economics. With a passion for the subject matter I am willing, and qualified, to help you with almost anything in the field.

I have a passion for teaching and for the subject matter that is at hand. I am comfortable tutoring the most basic material all the way to advanced concepts for graduate students. Teaching is not what I do, it is who I am. I have always loved to learn and I love to teach what I have learned to others.

While I am a social studies teacher by trade I am a generalist. I have taught English, Math, and Public Speaking. With my liberal arts education I have taken courses in Math, Science, and and Philosophy. I can certainly help with any subject and can be a one stop tutoring solution.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
