I taught myself Photoshop 15 years ago and since then have had about 100 book covers published. I now have an Associate Degree in Design & Graphic Technology with a major emphasis on the Adobe Suite. I'm adept at Camera Raw editing, special effects, layer blending, clipping paths and can put together videos and create cartoons complete with soundtracks. Photoshop has come a long way since PS 5!
Illustration is my forte and have been an exceptional sketch artist most of my life. These days, you mostly do quick outlines, scan and finish them in Photoshop, but drawing skills will never be obsolete. I use a Waccom Tablet and recommend students have one. With my large collection of custom brushes, I can paint watercolors that look like the real deal. The tablet also works better than a mouse for most other operations and is more comfortable on the wrist.
I'm knowledgeable with a camera and frequently do professional shoots, mostly portraits. If you want to make the most of the marriage of photographs and Photoshop, I can show you the path.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I've been drawing in pencil for 50 years and recently have illustrated books with pencil sketches. I can also teach sketching in Photoshop.
Rough drawings are imperative for designers. I teach the technique and the process from paper to computer.
I have created about 100 book covers with Photoshop and have a grasp of design technique and theory regarding composition, color, typography and contrast. I know layout for publication and specs for digital and traditional print.
