University of South Florida (Criminology)
Dear Potential Students,
My Name is Anna. I am looking forward to working with. I am sure you want to know a little about me. I have and Associates of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts. My Bachelor's Degree was obtained from the University of South Florida (Go Bulls!) and I attended Hillsborough Community College's EPI(Educator Preparation Institute) for my teacher training. My early background was as a Substitute teacher so I have had lots of experience working with a diverse group of Students. Last year I co-taught English Language Arts and Reading to Seventh and Eight Grade Students at a Charter School. This year, I plan to teach in my field so I am currently pursuing another opportunity at a different institution.
I will never give up on student. All my students receive the support and confidence from me that they need to succeed. Social Studies is my favorite subject personally, but I have taught Intensive Reading and can show your student the steps that need to be taken to create High Scoring Essays. While these are my main subjects, I do tutor in other subjects, including working with K-6 students, so contact me if that is the subject you or your child need help in and if it is a subject I am well versed in, I will be happy to take you on. If it is a subject I am not well versed in, and you have been having problems with other tutors not offering you the help you truly need, then I will look into the subject and get back to you usually within 24 hours and let you know if this is going to be something I can help you with.
For example, I have an Internet friend I met who is being home schooled and she has a tutor but tells me that her tutor, through her county school system, doesn't really help her. She was frustrated and about ready to give up on her Math. She was working with Fractions. Well I haven't done Fractions in a while so I immediately looked through a few websites to refresh my memory on how to add/subtract and multiply and divide fractions. Next I set up an online White Board, since we are in different states, so I could break it down in a way she would understand. In that one short session, I had explained what the person who was supposed to be helping her had failed to get her to comprehend in weeks. She was grateful and finished her program and is now looking forward to attending Community College next Fall.
All tutoring sessions will take place in a public place, such as Fast Food Establishment with Wi-fi or Library.
Students will preferably have a laptop and thumb drive to save lessons and examples on. I will also frequently email students information on additional resources that I believe will help them.
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy.
I work well with Students who are shy and need someone to believe in them. You should hire me because I will go above and beyond to help my students succeed in their Educational Pursuits. Everyday is a new opportunity to learn something and we should never let that opportunity pass.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received my Bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida in Criminology and since then I have take additional classes over the years to keep abreast of what is happening in the field. Because of my love for the subject, I will be enrolling in even more classes over the next couple years to keep up with current trends and ensure I am always 'in touch' with one of my favorite subjects.
I have taken the required courses in public speaking as part of my matriculation through college. I opted for the more intensive three Hour speech course vs the one hour grammar course because it involved getting up in front of others and giving speeches.
My love of public speaking was developed at an early age and I will teach you to be comfortable with the subject.
I have given all types of speeches and participated in a few debates while in school. We will work on expository and persuasive speeches mainly at first. If you need to give technical speeches let me know and I will include lessons on that also.
As a classroom teacher, my experience as a public speaker grows daily as I have to find fun and innovative ways to keep my students motivated and paying attention.
While I don't teach formally speech in the classroom, I do educate my students on the fine arts of public speaking and help them practice their speeches, while giving them tips on how to improve their efforts when they have an oral report (this is public speaking) due.
When I tutor you in public speaking, I will work with you on all the aspects of the process, including how to different types of speeches.
