Hi there! My name is Christina and I am recent college graduate with child care experience who thoroughly enjoys helping others and giving them the tools they need to succeed. I am the oldest of four children, so I grew up with afternoons consisting of help with homework.
I was previously employed with the Hillsborough County Public School District as an After School Care Counselor for two years working with children grades K-5. In this position, I created themed lesson plans and planned daily schedules for my group that including one hour of assisted homework/reading time and educationally-focused activities meant to mirror what the children were currently learning in their classes. I also routinely communicated with parents regarding the child's academic progress. I have experience working with children one-on-one and in group settings.
I took two years of Latin language study in high school, which is extremely beneficial in the study of vocabulary and word construction.
During my senior year in college, I worked as a conversation leader in an organization that teaches English to international students at the college level, and am currently employed with this company today.
Also, my child care experience has given me confidence in dealing with children of different learning styles and personalities, and has taught me how to make learning productive and enjoyable. My personal strengths are in writing, spelling and reading, and I can teach those subjects comfortably, along with organization and planning skills, general K-5 topics, elementary Spanish language, English language acquisition, and homework help for all grades. Thank you for your time and I look forward to meeting you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
