Bio

Hi, I'm Sydney! I'm originally from Omaha, Nebraska, and I graduated Elkhorn High School in the top percentage of my class. I'm currently a Sophomore at Florida State University where I am double majoring in English (Editing, Writing, and Media) as well as Sociology. I'm on the NCAA swim team at Florida State, and I am a Presidential Scholar, which means that I was selected as one of thirty students within my college class, which is the highest honor for incoming students at Florida...

I'm on the NCAA swim team at Florida State, and I am a Presidential Scholar, which means that I was selected as one of thirty students within my college class, which is the highest honor for incoming students at Florida State.

I began tutoring a couple of years ago starting with Elementary school students with the intent to help younger students be more engaged in the learning process. Since then, I have worked with both High School and Collegiate students on upper-level writing as well as ACT/SAT work.
I received perfect scores on the ACT reading and writing as well as near perfect on the SAT English sections. I can also aid with general writing skills. I am published in with several magazines/organizations, and I am very much familiar with the editing process.
Through both my personal work and tutoring others, I have come to understand how important it is to engage with students of all backgrounds, and my tutoring is based entirely around that. The most effective tutors are those who cannot only help students to understand the individual subject matter but also the larger connections that are involved. My goal is to bring my own experiences into my tutoring sessions with the intent to help students become invested in the learning process.

In my typical tutoring session, I would ask for a student's goals as well as important notes prior to the session so we could begin developing a session plan. That way, we can use our sessions to focus on working through more specific examples with the intent of reaching that end goal. I am always open to flexibility on the student's end, and I am perfectly happy to accommodate their needs. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or are interested in scheduling a session with me!

10 out of 10 English tutor

Sydney is helping our son with English SAT prep. She is a very good tutor who communicates well and is always on time, flexible with scheduling. I asked my son for rating of her knowledge and teaching skills/style, he said "10 out of 10".
