About Caitlin

Thank you already for your interest!
I was public school educator for the last 4 years and now ready to teach and empower children without the 'red tape'. I have experience in FSA test preparation, game based learning, Common Core, reading and math interventions as well a passion for English as a Second Language. I also love taking your child's personal interests and weaving those ideas into the learning process. I thrive on meeting students exactly where they are socially and academically without judgement and moving forward so each child experiences success.

I have over four years in the public schools system and understand the exact rigor and expectations that Common Core requires (analytical skills, text dependent answers, multiple solutions) but specialize in making these skills accessible to your child without 'watering down' content.

I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education and have traveled and taught English internationally through ministry opportunities. I hold a professional teaching license and certifications in two states as well as English As A Second Language. Recently, I have also completed 20 hours of Special Education. Furthermore, I have been ranked as "Highly Effective" by my administrators and state expectations for each year that I have been a full time educator (even in my first year).

I have most of my experience with ADD/ADHD and autism through my classroom experience. I made these accommodations, worked on IEP goal setting and Problem Solving Teams while teaching groups as high as 25-30 students in one room of mixed abilities. I also have experience applying RTI strategies, math interventions and Corrective Reading programs.

I have a passion for serving and empowering students to achieve their very personal best, challenging both high achieving and struggling students alike. I look forward to serving your child and meeting their unique needs.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Common Core

I hold a recent degree in Early Childhood Education (2011 graduation). Since working as a public educator in Leon County I have taught with my professional license meeting Common Core Standards and curriculum aligned with Common Core adopted by the district. My experience as a 3rd, 4th and 5th grade educator have included test preparation for the state assessments testing mastery of Common Core skills.

Elementary (K-6th)

I hold a degree in two states which certifies to teach PK-6 grade students. I also hold a certification for English as a Second Language for learners K-12. I have completed over four years of public education service as well as internships and student teaching in this age range.

Study Skills

As a previous public school educator, the bulk of my experience has been to prepare students for the state standardized test. Furthermore, in my current county assessments are weighted at 80%, so in delivering instruction I also needed to provide study skills and test taking strategies to ensure success. I also provide students with coping strategies for test anxiety as well as comprehension and analytical skills in conjunction with interpreting written directions.
