I have seven years experience teaching and five years experience tutoring. I've guided students preparing for all four sections of the ACT, particularly the Reading and English Sections. I also have taught all the major subjects in school and can assist anyone needing assistance or seeking enrichment in Math, Reading, Writing, Vocabulary Skills, or History.
My teaching experience is mostly middle school. But I am willing and qualified to work with all ages 2nd grade through college.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have 15 years working with youth in church. For ten of those years, I was either the primary teacher or one of the primary teacher for weekly lessons. I prepared curriculum for Wednesday and Sunday night teachings and worked with others preparing lessons. I also completed a Disciple Training School with YWAM (Youth With a Mission) that ran from January to May of 2005.
I have 4 years experience teaching 6th grade. I also student taught fifth grade and worked for 8 years with students age kindergarten-5th grade at a daycare. I have tutored students grades 2nd-6th for the last five years in math, reading, writing, and study skills.
While earning my bachelor's degree in college, I minored in Political Science and International Relations. I have taught the major forms of government while teaching World History and Geography. I've also taught the development of the major forms of government throughout history in those classes.
One of the core curriculum elements when I taught Middle School History in the state of Tennessee was the world's five main religions. I taught these for sixth grade World History, 7th Grade Geography, and 7th Grade World History. Items I covered included the origins, founders, major texts, beliefs, birthplace, and history of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism.
I've been a classroom teachers for seven years and I make it a priority to use the first week of each school year teaching students how to organize their materials and take notes in class. I reinforce these directives throughout the year. I've also tutored for five years where one of the central elements of each student's program was improving study skills.
