About Anteneh

I have graduate in Physics. I strive to provide students with a stimulating, challenging, and healthy learning environment that will allow them to become active participants in their education and to positively impact their lives. My teaching philosophy has emerged both through my academic and professional trainings, and my teaching experiences. I took courses in teaching methodology, developmental and educational psychology, curricula and teaching philosophy, which helped me, develop a full understanding of the art and science of teaching. I believe teaching is an active, continuous exchange of information between the instructor and the class. Every classroom presents a unique community of learners who vary not only in their abilities, but also in their learning styles. As a teacher, I strive to give students the tools with which to cultivate their own gardens of knowledge. Motivating students, making students active participants in their education, and encouraging students to spend more time on the course outside of class are very important for effective teaching. It is my philosophy to create critical and logical thinkers in any class I have the privilege of teaching.

One of my teaching goals is helping students to become active participants, problem solvers and logical thinkers. I believe that most people learn best when they are actively participating in the lesson: explaining, solving, talking, trying, working, and struggling. In all my courses, I require and encourage students to participate actively in class discussions. When I do examples in the class, I always ask what, how, and why questions at each step of the physical problem we are solving. To encourage active participation, I call on students by name and ask them to solve problems on the board. I comment on the students’ solutions and use them as an opportunity not only to discuss the right approach to the problem but also the common pitfalls in taking wrong short cuts to solve mathematical problems.

The best way to understand physical concepts and to develop problem-solving skill is practice, solving as many problems as possible. I advise and encourage students to do practice problems, work the assignments carefully, solve as many problems as they can, and use the office hours and other tutoring centers. I give students many paper-based and web-based homework (assignments) problems so that they can practice and study the material in details. I am also interested on a new emerging science called Data Science and therefore am attending CIS graduate program at FAMU.
I'm more than happy to apply these all methods to all levels of Physics and Mathematics course.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I graduated major in Physics and Minor Maths(BS). During these all I took all fundamental and advanced level of Maths.

Algebra 2

Through out my education from BS to PhD I took different levels of Algebra.

Calculus

I took more than six calculus courses during undergraduate and graduate courses.

Differential Equations

I took more than six calculus courses during undergraduate and graduate including ordinary and partial differential equation. During my undergraduate, I major Physics and Minor Maths because it is a language of science.

Linear Algebra

Throughout my education from BS (Minor Maths) to PhD Physics, I took different levels of Algebra. This so simple and elementary for me. I have strong background in Maths (Calculus and Algebra) because maths is the language of Physicists.

Physics

My PhD in Physics shows how I'm qualified in Physics.
