Bio

Hi!

My name is Sandra. I am the oldest child in my family which includes 10 siblings!!!
I love children and once ran a daycare provider for over twenty years for all ages of children from 0 years to after-school aged children.

I am outgoing and able to put children at ease. This is the most importantly part of learning, I think. Children do not learn as much from stern teachers as they do from teachers who they feel genuine care about them, minus the subject. I always wanted to go in...

I always wanted to go in teachers' classrooms who were nice to me, who seemed to care/not blame me for not mastering the subject they were teaching.I recently published two children's books with PublishAmerica. Both books teach life lessons for children as told through the eyes of a "fuzzyworm" and a turtle.

I have a Bachelor's degree from the University of Florida.

Theater

I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in theater. I have worked on several shows at the University, usually backstage, handling props, making props, hair and makeup. I also write plays and novels. I look for ways to be creative in dance, voice and expression. I would like to tutor students of all ages who wish to expand their personal grasp on the stage and the workings of plays, musicals and unique forms of story-telling via the stage.

Study Skills

There is no two ways about studying. It is just something one has to do in order to do well in a particullar subject. Yet, having said that, many students, including myself at one point, do NOT know the way or ways to adequately study. Studying is not about reading and re-reading class material. It can be, but does not have to be, the means to an end. I found for myself, that making notes on flashcards to be more affective than the boredom of reading subject material for hours on ends to be more productive. Writing the notes, the sheer physicality of it, helps keep the boredom at bay. Having Notes condensed down to a card makes for shortened snippets of the material. High-lighting the notes to have something catch the eye helps. Proper food, meaning not eating foods with high sugar content helps. While sugary, caffeine laced foods initially help with energy and focus, they always sends the body into a crash and burn cycle. A set time to study is also important. Proper rest is the main thing that a student has to have. Last, but certainly not least, a student HAS to WANT to do well on a test. There is no way around that. If a student wants to do well, the incentive is there. Anything worth having is worth working for. That sounds trite, but it's true!
