About Aneesah

I love helping people learn and grow! For over 15 years I have had the pleasure of working with people as young as ages of 3 up through adulthood. I currently teach and coach people in my community as well as train adults in a corporate setting.

In 2005, I received my B.A. in Business Administration from Governors State University. Since then, I have worked on the administration and operations side of two of the largest proprietary educational institutions.

Some of the subjects and contexts I have taught and trained in includes teaching Spanish at summer camps, helping individuals with college level writing, training on technique in a community choir, and customer service training at my organization. At times, I have also worked with people online when distance kept us from meeting in person.

In all that time, I have found that people learn in many different ways; some learn better by hearing, some by seeing, and some others by doing. As a result, when I work with people one-on-one, I try to quickly determine preferred learning style and use that to help maximize effectiveness. Parents and students appreciate my instructional style and patience.

I have specific experience with many different areas including, writing, software, learning enhancement, proofreading. I frequently use parallels to help increase understanding and a genuine “can-do” attitude to help students find effective study techniques that enhance their own learning experience.

With every opportunity you can expect a full guarantee of satisfaction with my dedication and willingness to help students maximize their potential. Together we will address your needs as well as add long term value.

My motto is … “Good, better, best. Never let it rest. 'Til your good is better and your better is best.”

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Reading

The reading portion of the ACT is designed to measure how well and how quickly you can understand a message. Over the years, I have helped people prepare for this and other standardized tests. Together we will work on comprehension along with strategies that will build your confidence and prepare you for test day.

ASVAB

The ASVAB is a basic knowledge test required for entrance into the military. I am prepared to help you with each subject as well as strategies for test taking, improving your potential, and pacing yourself on this timed test. As a military wife, I understand the importance of the ASVAB in your military career. Contact me today and I will work with you every step of the way toward achieving your best score!

Business

In 2005, I received my B.A. in Business Administration from Governors State University. Since then, I have worked on the administration and operations side of two of the largest proprietary educational institutions. In addition to my corporate position, I also work as a business consultant and project manager for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and business students. Success in business requires a range of basic business management skills. My knowledge base includes accounting, management, and marketing.

Career Development

Career development is important to achieve measurable progress toward your life goals. I have worked with college-level students on clarification of their educational, vocational, and personal goals. I currently work in my community as a higher education advocate helping adults set goals, determine skills needed, and create action plans to achieve career goals. I also write resumes, teach interview skills, and help people build their confidence.

College Counseling

Everyone can benefit from personal college counseling. As a professional in academic administration, I have many years of experience working with in colleges.

I see firsthand what skills and knowledge students need in college beyond admission and how to help students in high school reach toward these goals successfully. I offer individuals and families assistance with navigating the college admission process, as well as academic guidance specific to the individual student instead of the institution.

In 2013, I completed my Master’s degree with a focus on leadership for student success in college. I can help bring greater insight into your next educational journey and provide personalized assistance beyond admission toward the ultimate goal of degree attainment and career achievement.

Economics

Economics was my favorite college course! As a business student, I became all too familiar with the laws of supply and demand. Let me help you see more clearly how this concept of the production, consumption, and transfer of wealth is at work all around you every day.

Microsoft Access

I received training from St. Petersburg College in Clearwater, FL. Subsequently, I have built over 10 different databases even some using MS Access new web-based app. Access is different from other MS Office products as it is not as intuitive in order to create a working database you need to understand the components and how they connect.

Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet software that helps users organize data.

I am an intermediate to advanced user of Excel since I use it every day…all day. I can show you the basics along with useful tools that can improve your efficiency. If you are already a basic user we can move on to advanced features such as formulas, conditional formatting, and much more.

Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook is a great time management tool. I easily save 40% of my time by managing processes and organizing using this software. In addition to my experience as user, I also have formal training. I can help you learn more about the wonders and benefits of using Microsoft Outlook to its fullest potential. Some topics I cover in training are managing your inbox, using archives, and setting rules for automatic mail handling.

Phonics

I teach phonics to students in Kindergarten - 1st grade as well as helping students struggling with reading. I go over sounds and general rules with students to improve their ability to decode unfamiliar words and has a means to sound out words for writing assignments. This improves students' ability to both hear, and identify sounds and the connection between sounds, spelling and reading.

Public Speaking

As an administrative professional, community involvement advocate, fundraiser, and Cancer survivor, I have over twenty years public speaking experience.

I can help with presentation, preparation, visual aids, connecting with an audience, and overcoming stage freight.

SAT Reading

The critical reading portion of the SAT has two parts that are designed to test your ability rather than what you should have already learned. Reading Comprehension is designed to measure how well and how quickly you can understand a message while sentence completion is similar to how it sounds…fill in the blanks. I have taken the SAT and helped others study for this and other standardized tests. Together we will work on both components of the critical reading section along with strategies that will build your confidence and prepare you for test day. One great tip for the Sentence Completion is to use the clues built into the sentence, the context clues.

Study Skills

Study skills are very important to success at all points in the educational journey. Part of my position in education is focused on helping student obtain and improve their study skills in order to improve their grades and meet graduation requirements. My role has given me the ability to see firsthand what skills and knowledge students need in college and how to help students in high school reach toward that goal successfully. My Master’s degree is focus on leadership for student success in college and I am currently studying educational psychology.
