If you have been searching for a tutor who can teach you college level mathematics in a practical, steady pace, then look no further! I Have recently graduated from the University of South Florida as a Mathematics major and with that I have taken many courses from all levels of Algebra and Calculus. I had seasons where I excelled in classes and seasons where I struggled so I can relate to taking hard courses and working your way up to passing with understanding the material.

I have prior experience tutoring part time at my college and have worked with many different students from high school students who are duel enrolled to older students who have made the great decision of furthering their education. I am a friendly young man and love to teach math.

I also teach guitar lessons and have six years of experience. I have four years playing for a well respected church as their acoustic guitar player. I can teach guitar from the fundamentals of holding your guitar to the basics of strumming and reading guitar tablature. I can teach chord construction, scales, to guitar tricks like simple palm muting and bends.

Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Builds on topics in Algebra I with topics in systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers, quadratics, and concepts and includes the study of trigonometric functions. It also introduces matrices and their properties.
Calculus,

Calculus

Covers standard material on differential and integral calculus. It focuses on basic concepts, methods, and applications suitable for students majoring in engineering, natural sciences, computer science, mathematics, etc. Deals with single and multi-variable differential calculus. Rate of change. The concept of a definite integrals as the limit of Riemann sums, as well as the uses of both definite and indefinite integrals. The emphasis is on on problem-solving and understanding concepts rather than on proving theorems in most settings.
Geometry,

Geometry

Some topics covered are basic geometric figures, deductive reasoning, parallel lines and planes, congruent triangles, quadrilaterals, inequalities of geometry, and polygons.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

This course reinforces mathematical skills taught in the grade six class with additional advanced computation including an emphasis on Algebraic concepts: fractions, decimals, percents, positive and negative integers and rational numbers. They become more proficient in using ratios, proportions and solving algebraic equations and word problems.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Trigonometry concepts such as Law of Sines and Cosines will be introduced. Students will then begin analytic geometry and calculus concepts such as limits, derivatives, and integrals.

Trigonometry

Right triangle geometry is a good way to look at this course. It's Geometry dealing with right triangles. Trigonometry concepts such as Law of Sines and Cosines will be introduced already. Very close to to a course in Precalculus.

Music

Guitar,

Guitar

I have been playing guitar for three years, and have spent the third year playing for my church. I can teach the basics of guitar playing such as holding the guitar, tuning, and reading guitar tablature. I have knowledge of the basics of music theory pertaining to the guitar such as chord construction. Under my instructing I do not guarantee you will be able to play some insane solo but you will have the fundamental skills to get you there. I have recently gotten to the level of identifying modes of scales like ionian, dorian, etc which is good for improvised playing over a certain chord progression so topics such as that I will not spend much time with as it is beyond my level of expertise. But I love to play the guitar it is one of my favorite things to do and I'm so grateful for the gift I have of being able to play at the level that I do. Should you decide to choose me as your guitar tutor I will do my best to get you playing where you would like to be.
Music Theory

Music Theory

Music Theory is basically why chords sound good over certain notes and how to build on that. Music theory is why musicians can jam together only knowing the key a song is in. Learning even a little bit of theory would take any musician to the next level a lot quicker than those who avoid it.

Excellent Tutor

It has been roughly three and half months since James has been tutoring my daughter. It has helped her to understand algebra and geometry. My daughter has gone from failing to passing with high grades and we are no longer concerned with her repeating the courses. She has regained her confidence in math again. Thanks James for helping my child love math again.
