About Nadia

I come from a diverse background. Born in Alaska, raised in the Middle East and a product of a Tanzanian and an American, I'm blessed to have a multicultural understanding of the world. I have 5 younger brothers, so although I have no formal training as a teacher, I consider being a big sister to 5 brilliant and motivated boys to be my first experience in teaching. In addition, I have volunteered in an a school in Tanzania to teach English as a second language, and tutored many of my classmates in Arabic while taking classes at the University of South Florida. Inspiring hope for others to see their own personal strength is my life long passion. Teaching requires allowing the student to recognize their full capabilities and instilling the confidence in a student to do so. Similarly, teaching is also one of the greatest learning experiences. That being said, I look forward to beginning this intellectual journey with all who are interested in learning more about the Arabic language and culture.

I studied the Arabic language for 6 years and have lived in the Middle East for about 13 years. (Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE) In addition to being proficient in speaking, I am fluent in reading and writing; and I am also well accustomed to Arab lifestyle and culture, which can be a complimentary insight to learning the language. Arabic is a beautiful, poetic language that once dabbled, will expand your perception on the art of language as a whole.

"To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world. " I encourage everyone to learn at least another language, for the more you learn the deeper your understand is of the world. I look forward to teaching as well as learning from all interactions made through tutoring Arabic.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Arabic

I studied Arabic I, Arabic II, and Arabic III in the high school I attended in Saudi Arabia. (2007-2010) Upon graduating, I received an Academic Award for non-Arabic speakers. In college, I also took a Modern Arabic class that I excelled in. During this time, I also providing tutoring to several classmates. Arabic like any language can be perfected upon practice and consistency. I encouraged students of any language to utilize flash cards, watch tv programs in the preferred language, and make a friend that speaks the native language so that all academic progress can be applied and ingrained, making it much more beneficial when learning and becoming fully accustomed to the Arabic language.
