About Danielle

I am an Educational Sign Language Interpreter. I grew up with a Deaf older brother, referring to myself as a SODA (sibling of a deaf adult). I am certified to work in national and educational settings. I love sign language and teaching others to love the language as well. It is a joy watching those willing to learn, succeed in communication with Deaf individuals.

I have passed the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment as well as the National Interpreter Certification written exam.

I grew up with an older Deaf sibling as well as Deaf friends. I have been working as a freelance interpreter for 3 years and I have been working as an educational interpreter for 2 years. I am also an ASL Job Coach and assist Deaf individuals towards finding and obtaining employment. I have assisted an instructor teaching ASL to adults.

I completed several courses (ASL 1-4, linguistics, finger spelling, ASL to English translations, Intro to Interpreting 101&102) in the Interpreter Training Program at Passaic County Community College. I also have a Bachelors degree from Rutgers University with a major in English.

I love that there are plenty of games to play while learning language, keeping it fun and exciting. My father taught sign language to adults and I have assisted him for 5 years in the classroom. I look forward to teaching and tutoring young adults and anyone who is eager to learn the linquistically complete visual spacial language.

I have an EIPA certification, NIC written certification. 3 years working as a freelance interpreter, 2 years in educational interpreting. Life experience with a Deaf sibling, Deaf friends, Deaf community.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
