I hold a degree in deaf education from Northern Illinois University, and taught in the Chicago Public Schools. Subsequently, I was a substitute teacher for both hearing and deaf students in the Denver Public Schools. I have taught Hard of Hearing and Deaf kids of all ages, from six years of age to high school students. I am proficient in sign language, and have also worked as a counselor for a group of deaf high schoolers in a sheltered workshop. Additionally, I served on the Board of Directors of the Center for Deafness in Denver, CO.
I have stayed in touch with many of my students over the years, and am pleased to say that they have graduated and gone on to hold responsible jobs in their communities.
As a side bar, my stepdaughter and son-in-law are deaf, as is my niece. As a result, I am very familiar with deaf culture.
In addition to my degree in Deaf Ed, I recently earned a certificate in business management and supervision, which included training in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). I also earned a certificate in Digital Design which included training in Adobe Creative Suite 5 (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver) which prepared me to design and create websites and print collateral.
I now sit on the Advisory Committee to the Department of Digital and Multimedia Design at Sarasota County Technical Institute.

Very Professional, talented individual. I needed an EXCEL Expert and she clearly is one.
I would absolutely recommend this person for other assignments.
Thanks, Bob! It goes both ways. You were so easy to work with. I'd love to work with you again. All the best.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
