As a life-long student and teacher, I realize that the educational process can be frustrating at times. Some students just need a little help to make it to that "light-bulb" moment, and that is where I come in! I'm a HIGHLY-EFFECTIVE teacher that has been in the classroom for 9+ years. I specialize in English Language Arts for grades 6-12. I am also well versed in Civics, Reading, History, Writing and Vocabulary. I have helped over 1,000 students in the past nine years, and I'm sure I can help your student as well.
My undergraduate degree is in English Literature and I am currently earning my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Digital Learning.
My teaching method is simple, I do anything and everything to help students understand the material. Whether it's singing silly songs (even those tough high-school students remember things that way!), helping them create video clips based on concepts...or even the more tried and true method of making and using flashcards, every avenue will be explored!
Are you searching for homework help? Is your student unsuccessful right now? Let's get him or her back on track! Each lesson will have an outlined goal, with a guide for steps to completion along with a game plan for success outside of the tutoring session that way his or her goal can be easily reached.
Since life isn't perfect, sometimes events come up and appointments can't be kept. If that happens, I only ask for a 24 hour notice for cancellations. Additionally, since we'll only be meeting in public places (My preference is a library, book store or a Panera/Starbucks) should you run late for pickup, your student won't feel uncomfortable. If you're more comfortable learning online, I'm more than happy to conduct tutoring lessons via the internet.
I am available during the week, with very few weekend hours-- however I can be flexible if I have enough time to plan for someone to come and let my puppies out!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
