About Holly

I am a NATIVE, STATE-CERTIFIED French teacher, with extensive experience teaching both French and English at all levels.
I lived in the US when I was a child and am perfectly bilingual. I recently left Paris and moved to Sarasota (May 2011). Paris is still fresh in my mind, and I share my love of Paris and France with my students.

I am also Florida-State certified in Language Arts, Reading and Elementary Education, with solid teaching experience in each subject area in both Sarasota and Manatee Counties.

I recently became Florida State Certified in French, and am qualified to teach a wide range of subjects, including Language Arts.

I have been teaching all levels of French language and culture at ACE/Suncoast Technical College and also also taught at the Alliance Francaise de Sarasota. I have received rave reviews as an excellent teacher sharing my passion of language, people and teaching with my students. I created 2 conversation classes that are also great successes.

I have post-graduate degrees in French and Technical Writing, a BA in German and a Certificate in Teaching French as a Foreign language from the Sorbonne. I studied Russian for 12 years. I taught English for 10 years at the Paris Chamber of Commerce. A linguist myself, I have mastered Russian, German, and some Italian. I understand the difficulties American and French adults face in learning a new language and help students overcome these difficulties.

I provide personalized, specialized teaching methods to each student, to help him/her feel comfortable with the language while mastering basic or advanced aural/oral skills. I make learning French FUN, contributing my personality, humor and charm to the process.

I use the most modern methods and events to complement my classes: internet, online newspaper articles, images of the week, famous French personalities, songs, movies, news, etc. to bring the language alive.

I can offer specialized business, technical and financial classes, having been a bilingual Technical Writing Engineer and business owner in Paris until 2011.

Extremely patient.

Holly has an amazing knack for taking something I find very difficult, and turning it into something that makes me feel like I can master easily. She is extremely patient with me and never makes me feel stupid. After a little bit, I realize she is actually repeating herself over and over and over and over and over again. To most people, that would be daunting, but Holly understands it takes repet
