A naturalized American citizen since 1971, I was born and educated in Italy. Immediately after receiving a doctorate in chemistry at the University of Naples, Naples Italy, I began working for the New York State Health Department in 1965 as Sanitary Analytical Chemist and continued working for the Department for 30 years ascending from grade 13 to grade 31 Research scientist V. After retirement I accepted a position as Chemist III with the State of Florida Environmental Protection Department (2000-2001) and more recently chemistry consulting assignments (2010-2011).
Although my career has been based mostly on analytical environmental research (more than 2 dozens publications in scientific journals), supervision, and laboratory management, a major part of my activities have included some form of teaching. For several years I mentored graduate students of the School of Public Health associated with the State University of New York and the Health Department, and taught environmental analytical chemistry to chemists chemical technicians and Public Health personnel.
In addition, as a senior student at a classic High School and as a college student I successfully tutored college and secondary school seniors in preparing for final examinations of several subjects including Italian (grammar, literature, and composition), chemistry, math and sciences). With an undiminished passion for my native language, chemistry and teaching, I have been providing tutoring services for Italian, chemistry, math, and sciences in the Sarasota area since 2013.
I can provide effective and complete guidance and successful preparation for the following subjects: Italian language, Chemistry, (general, analytical instrumental, organic and biochemistry) , Math (Algebra and Geometry), and science ( biology, physics, ecology, earth science).

Great tutoring session
Had Edmondo assisting me with some Organic Chemistry confusing concepts and was extremely satisfied. He showed up on time (every time) ready to teach. Was knowledgeable, patient and always willing to explain. He came with some additional "assisting materials" he made previous to our meeting that really made things easier on me and didn't leave until he made sure things are clear. Due to his help the upcoming exam didn't look so threatening and I ended up with a good grade so overall I feel very thankful and satisfied with his help. I would definitely recommend others to use Edmondo as their tutor. Try him, you won't be disappointed!Sara, 2 lessons with Edmondo

On the right track
Edmondo got me started on the right track to speak the Italian language properly. I am looking forward to our next lesson.Fred, 18 lessons with Edmondo
Exactly what I wanted
I wanted to "dust off" my Italian with a native speaker in advance of a vacation in Italy. I was happy to find Ed, who is intelligent, professional, encouraging, punctual, and clear. When I proposed to work with my own book he seemed glad to follow that progression of study, which was different from what he had proposed initially. He also made an effort to make the lessons relevant to my travel plans. Very happy with the experience and I would recommend him as an Italian tutor.Raul, 11 lessons with Edmondo
Passionate about teaching, punctual, and professional tutor
Edmondo is a very passionate tutor. I contacted Edmondo for Chemistry tutoring and he helped me better understand complex concepts. Edmondo is always available whenever I need his help. When he teaches a concept, he makes sure one understands it from the beginning; he is always prepared for each lecture and communicates to e-mails promptly. Edmondo is not just passionate about tutoring, he cares about each student's personal educational goals and he is always willing to go the extra mile to help one accomplish them. I highly recommend Edmondo.Silvia, 2 lessons with Edmondo
The first day I tried to meet Edmondo he was a no show. I waited for 45 minutes and left. The next day he said he could not find the campus library. The next day I met with him he was 15 minutes late. I showed him homework I had due and needed help with but he could wanted to do his own examples. When I did not understand something he got frustrated and said, what doesn't make sense in your brain? It was my first tutoring experience and it was not a good one. I have never had a problem academically but chemistry is proving to be quite a challenge for me. I left feeling more confused then when I arrived.Michael, 1 lesson with EdmondoTutor responded:
Response to comments . Nov.6 2013 I was saddened to learn that at the end of our tutoring session of last Sunday Oct. 20, 2013 you “left feeling more confused” than at the start of the session. Certainly that feeling is not supported by the facts. We covered several basic principles and stoichiometry calculations including atoms and molecules, electronic structures, orbitals and quantum numbers, valence electrons, concept of mole and calculations useful in preparative chemistry using examples of tests and assignments that you provided. You appeared to understand and retain these concepts well as evidenced by the appropriate participation. I did not insist on using my set of problems. I only said that I had some examples available if you did not have them. In fact we only used 1 or 2 from my list. I did propose, however, to focus our review on the correct answers of the probable questions included in the test that you were scheduled to take on Monday. After about 2.5 hours of work, discussing the determination of the oxidation state of an element when the formula of a compound is given, you appeared to hesitate. I noticed this uncertainty probably caused by the prolonged period of study? Distraction? Or a misunderstanding of the instructions? To eliminate this last possibility I asked you to go step by step over the instructions to see if all was retained properly or misunderstood. I might have used the word brain and the expression “making sense” only to explain the need to review the instructions critically. I was not “frustrated”. How could have I been when a few practicing chemists I know have some difficulty with this subject? You misunderstood my facial expression that meant only the decision to go over the material again with patience from both. Finally our logistic problems that are expected to occur when locations are not well known and time is of the essence were mostly due to your excessive confidence as making an appointment to the library on Saturday without confirming that it was open and giving me a telephone number that only give a message with reference to an Institute of Christian Counseling. When having difficulty finding the campus and especially the library, l unsuccessfully called that number at about 12:45 to report my tardiness. I eventually was at the library building at 1:55. The library was closed and you had left. I certainly should have left my residence one hour earlier to allow for difficulties. But you are not alone. I am also guilty of too much confidence in my capabilities! A final and very important note: All this could have been instantly resolved if You would have stated your concerns or misunderstanding to me directly. I only wished your success and I was glad for the privilege of assisting you. Ed
