I am a Teacher who loves to help her students succeed. I have a Child Development Associate Credentials (CDA) and am currently enrolled in my last year of earning an Elementary Education degree. What this means for my students is that I have a knowledge base in current educational practices. I have over 15 years experience teaching young students between the ages of birth to eight. Most recently I have been tutoring students in grades k-3rd to improve reading and comprehension skills.
I specialize in assisting students with reading and writing. I plan my lessons based on reliable assessments and on the students strengths. I work from there to help them meet their goals. My lessons are based on the Florida State Standards.
When teaching VPK (Voluntary Pre-School), I raised the school score and most of my students left reading or on their way to reading-if they had no previous school experience. I also have experience as a Americorps Jump-start volunteer helping students enter school prepared to succeed. Parents and supervisors generally can consider my strength as a teacher to be my patience.
I have experience with the common core standards and am able to align instruction to assist students with meeting those requirements.
I would make an excellent elementary education tutor as I have intimate knowledge of successful reading and writing strategies for students in K-3rd grade. I will also be able to help those who are behind and struggling to get on grade level. I am willing to work with the current teaching team, if they are willing, to help raise student grades.
I believe phonics forms the basis of learning to read. I am able to teach how to use phonics to learn new vocabulary. I can also assist students in becoming literate. This includes teaching various strategies to achieve reading comprehension and becoming fluent readers.
I am generally available between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm, as well as some evenings. Please contact me to schedule afternoons and evenings-I am pretty flexible. I understand that things come up therefore, I have a cancellation time of at least five hours notice that way I can reschedule you or attend to another student that may need my assistance. My base rate is $60/hour, which includes travel, research, planning, and putting together lessons based on individual student need. I will also meet with the student before the first lesson to assess their needs and see how I can best be of service.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping your child achieve their goals! I am a Teacher who loves to help her students succeed. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am in my last year of the Early Childhood Education Degree (K-3rd grade). I have compiled lessons based on the Common Core and have experienced navigating the subject matter and helping students achieve specific learning goals based on the Common Core standards.
I have been a preschool teacher for 15 years. I am in my last year of an Elementary Education degree. I hold an Associates of Arts from the University of Central Florida with a major in Early Childhood Education (birth-3rd grade). I have an Associates in Applied Science Degree for Early Childhood Education in K-6.
I have taught VPK for several years. Most of my students have left my classroom reading. Others who had never attended school were on their way to reading. The main method of instruction was phonics.
I am reading, and spelling qualified. Most of my students (those who have never attended school) have left my classroom reading. Parents say my best quality is my patience.
