Indiana University (Recreational Therapy)
Hello! My name is Kaitlynne. I am new to St. Petersburg and can't wait to grow my tutoring network in the area. I graduated from Indiana University in 2015 with a degree in Recreational Therapy and Psychology. I have extensive experience working with children and adults with a wide range of learning differences/disabilities, including behavioral/conduct disorders, ADHD/ADD, dyslexia, Autism/Aspergers, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other mental/behavioral/cognitive/developmental/physical disabilities. Personally
My tutoring experience has primarily consisted of working with individuals with learning differences and behavioral needs. I worked for 3 years in Indiana University Athletics as a tutor/mentor working with athletes with intensive academic needs and learning disabilities. I worked with students in all subject areas, but primarily focused on writing, speech/oral communication, or specific content/subject classes (such as gender studies, labor studies, history topics, etc.) that required research, analytical thinking, and creating in depth, academic essays or research papers. I currently work at the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg as the YMCA READS! Coordinator, working with high-risk, low performing readers K-3 to improve reading and literacy skills! We use an intensive, research based curriculum to help students improve reading skills. I combine this predetermined curriculum with fun, hands on activities to help ideas stick in my students' memories.
With my Recreational Therapy background and experience working in tutoring/academics, I love to combine the two focuses to make learning interactive and fun for kids and adults. I work with each individual on a very personal level to find what works best for them and how they learn best. I enjoy working with children in any/all subjects. I prefer to work with older children, young adults, college students, and adults on English/writing subjects. I like a hands-on, interactive approach.
My favorite things about tutoring and teaching are getting to know new people and seeing my students progress! I love getting to know those I work with and finding what works best for them. I can't wait to work with you to help you achieve your goals. If you are a parent looking for a tutor to help your child in various subjects, have a child with a learning difference/disability who needs individualized help, or a college student, young adult, or adult looking for assistance with college/academic papers or writing, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions! I would love to get tutoring started today to help you achieve your goals. Hello! My name is Kaitlynne. I am new to St. Petersburg and can't wait to grow my tutoring network in the area. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
